ST LABRE INDIAN SCH EDUC ASSOC Director of Planned Giving & Major Gifts in ASHLAND, Montana

Under the direction of the Chief Development Officer, initiates, organizes, directs, promotes, coordinates, and monitors fund development and donor relations activities to include donor newsletter, special events, planned giving program and major gifts program, personally or through subordinates. Duties include: Advances the Mission and Vision of the organization by working cooperatively with other fundraising, administrative, program staff, and board members to present a compelling case for donor support; Performs all duties in connection with Planned Giving Program including but not limited to the solicitation for and acquisition of charitable gift annuities, wills, estate bequests, gifts and donations, charitable trusts, and life insurance/ retirement plans; Performs all duties in connection with Major Gifts Program including but not limited to the solicitation for and acquisition of endowments, scholarships, special projects, capital improvements and general support; Establishes and maintains contact with lawyers, CPAs, trust officers, insurance underwriters and other estate planning professionals; Organizes, coordinates and hosts special events and awareness activities such as tours for donors who visit the school and small donor receptions; Prepares and mails requested correspondence and maintains a schedule of correspondence; Responsible for all aspects of producing and distributing donor newsletter at least quarterly; Personally corresponds by travel and/or telephone with donors and prospects, their advisors, volunteers and professionals regarding planned giving vehicles, estate planning and or major gifts. Travel is required between 30-50% of the time; Completes gift arrangements and coordinates payments of gift; Maintains and updates information, in a timely fashion, regarding contacts with donors, on the donor contact management system; Receives ongoing education regarding major gifts or planned giving issues including taxation issues in order to maintain and improve skills; Conducts education/awareness presentations; Accepts and complies with Donor's Bill of Rights, Ethical Standards of Fund Raising and all applicable governmental regulations pertaining to planned gifts and donor solicitation; At all times maintains confidentiality of program participants; Strives to continually improve planned giving and major gifts program; Regularly communicates and coordinates with Chief Development Officer, Director of Direct Response Fundraising, and other direct mail staff to ensure a consistent and integrated message is communicated to donors.Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from four-year college or university and a minimum of five years related experience and/or training required; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Certificate of Planned Giving Training (technical aspects) is preferred. Must have valid Montana driver's license.
