Accounting, Manager

This position will oversee the accounting operations, including the maintenance and improvement of the accounting system, controls, and budgets. They will mitigate risk, enhance the reporting accuracy of the company's financial results, and ensure that those results and practices comply with generally accepted accounting principles (“GAAP”) or standards.

Reports to: Corporate Controller

What You'll Do:

  • Ensure month-end close process is completed accurately and on time.

  • Understand the department's goals and objectives to develop, design, and oversee an accounting function structure and a series of processes that achieve those goals.

  • Supervise the Accounting staff and any outsourced accounting service vendors.

  • Establish, maintain, and revise written documentation that details accounting policies, procedures, and deliverables in compliance with SOX regulation.

  • Review bank reconciliations and other balance sheet accounts.

  • Maintain an updated chart of accounts.

  • Establish and maintain accurate and appropriate accruals and reserves.

  • Forecast cash flows to ensure funding results in a positive cash balance.

  • Improve and challenge the current processes, systems and forms including expense reporting, credit card vendors, banking tools, etc.

  • Working with the Corporate Controller, identify and recommend accounting metrics and benchmarks for the organization. Track and measure performance against those metrics.

  • Analyze, measure, and report on all monthly financial results by department and communicate budget variances.

  • Coordinate the activities associated with the annual budget and operational expenses in partnership with Corporate Controller and Department heads.

  • Coordinate the gathering and presentation of financial information for any audits.

  • Safeguard financial information by preserving an organized accounting filing system.

  • Establish and maintain a system of accounting transaction controls.

  • Conduct any due diligence work, as requested.

  • Ensure tax compliance and coordinate appropriately with 3rd party tax consultants.

  • Manage the company's treasury function.

  • Manage deliverables required for the year end audit and quarterly reviews.

  • Assist in the integration of acquisitions as needed.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, or related financial field

  • Five (5) years of work experience in finance, accounting, or similar role. Previous supervisory experience preferred.

  • CPA Preferred

  • Analytical with strong attention to accuracy and detail.

  • Self-directed and adaptable to changing priorities/business needs.

  • Strong problem solver and communicator with an ability and willingness to guide and teach accounting team members.

  • Critical/logical decision maker.
