Title: Food Service Clerk/ Cashier 2021-2022-177 Location: Middle School Reports to: Food Service Director Shift: 9:30 AM -1:30 PM (4 Hours M-F) Start Date: August 26, 2021 Essential Job Duties Ensures that collections balance and students receiving free and reduced lunches are credited appropriately. Determine eligibility status, process, certify, and terminate families/participants in the Free/Reduced Price Lunch program as required by law; keep confidential records and a variety of logs, files and report required. Maintains and monitors the point of sale service and meal tracking systems, and other clerical duties as required. Maintains effective working relationships with students and appropriate members of all departments, schools, and meal sites in the district. Assists in the preparation and maintenance of all food service reports and records as required by federal, state or local regulations. Answer phones; provide food service program information, policies, procedures and regulations to parents, staff, and the public. Help maintain an accurate food and equipment inventory using our NutriKids Inventory software. Generate daily sales and meal count report, student report, and other reports as needed. Assists in the operation of the kitchen when needed. Informs parents when student account has deficit. Maintains accurate financial records. Operates cashier system in absence of regular cashier. Knowledge Skills Abilities Ability to maintain strict confidentiality. Strong computer skills including but not limited to use of data processing and spreadsheet computer software. Ability to abide by and enforce school district policies, administrative rules, regulations and directives. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, administrators, food service and other district support staff, teachers, and the general public. Ability to keep accurate records and reports. Continues professional improvement. Ability to work well with others. Required Qualifications Any combination of training, education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school. Previous experience handling money. Equipment Computer, calculator and other standard office equipment Physical and Mental Demands and Work Hazards Repetitive movements of arms, wrists, hand grasping and hand squeezing. Repetitive movements reaching. Required to lift, carry up and push/pull up to 40 pounds occasionally with or without an accommodation. Demonstrate professionalism and appropriate judgment in behavior, speech, and dress in a neat, clean, and appropriate professional manner. Occasionally works inside in a kitchen environment. May work on slippery surfaces. Occasionally required to stand for lengthy periods of time and occasionally to walk or crouch. Ability to meet deadlines with severe time constraints and maintain attentiveness intensity. Required to be able to hear conversations in loud and quiet environments The environment can be stressful due to the nature of the work. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Performs routine work.
