Title: Head Custodian FY2324_84 Reports to: Custodial Supervisor, Building Principal and Facilities Director School: Story Creek Elementary Hours: 6 AM- 2:30 PM Start Date: January 1, 2025 Status: Overtime eligible MPEA Bargaining Unit $16.25 to $17.85 plus additional $1.10 per hour DOE Working your family schedule and contributing to our local education community, Competitive benefit package and state retirement plan available Shift: Monday through Friday. Shifts may change during school breaks and summer work schedules. Start Date: Immediately QUALIFICATIONS: Good health and adequate physical strength for assigned tasks. Ability to read basic operating instructions and write brief reports. Ability to get along with co-works and others with whom contact is made during course of workday. Ability to supervise assigned personnel in a fair and equitable manner; Willingness to wear proper attire and to be properly groomed at all times. The head custodian and/or the school administration will determine what constitutes proper attire and grooming. Ability to move and/or carry supplies and equipment weighting up to 50lbs. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the school district may find appropriate REPORTS TO: Building Principal, Facilities Director or Superintendent. JOB GOAL: To provide students with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean, and efficient place in which to learn, play and develop. JOB DESCRIPTION: The Custodial & Maintenance Coordinator for a building site shall spend about 80% of their time on tasks normally performed by a Maintenance Worker and 20% of their time on coordination tasks. The following is a list of tasks expected to be performed by the Head Custodian: Oversees all custodial staff in the school building(s) to ensure that students are housed in a clean, safe, and pleasant school facility. Oversees the custodial staff in the school building(s) to assure tasks assigned to the Custodian and Maintenance Worker employees are completed and performed to a high quality. Recommends to the building principal the assigned work area and work hours for the custodial staff. Assists the building principal with the evaluation of the job performance of the custodial staff. Provides for the removal of snow. Answers to emergency calls related to the operation of the school building(s). Assumes the responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of the heating, ventilation, and cooling systems by custodial staff. This includes the development of a periodic maintenance schedule for HVAC and other building systems. Responsible for the in-service training of the custodial staff. Orders and maintains an inventory of supplies needed for the operation and maintenance of their school building and grounds. Coordinates the receiving of supplies and equipment form freight haulers for their building. Maintains on a regular schedule all motors and other mechanical equipment requiring scheduled servicing. Develops an ongoing program of general maintenance, upkeep, and repair. Conducts periodic inspections and tests of all electrical installations in the school to insure their safe condition. Provides temporary help when regular staff is absent. Assumes other duties appropriate for the position as assigned by the school administration.
