Title: Health Aide FY2425_103 Reports to: Nurse or Building Principal or SPED Director Building: Elementary or Middle School Status: Hourly, FT OR PT / CNA OR EMT Qualifications Hourly Wage: $17.00- $19.13 DOE Start Date: ASAP Working your family schedule and contributing to our local education community, State retirement package becomes fully vested after five years, matching funds! Pride in your community’s education Essential Job Duties Administer first aid as needed. Support students with health plans as directed by school nurse. Perform technical procedures as directed by school nurse (e.g. blood glucose testing, subcutaneous injectable epinephrine, diapering, catheterization). Maintain student immunization files as directed by school nurse. Maintain student health files as directed by school nurse. Document the care and treatments provided to each student in his/her individual health file or in daily log record book. Assist school nurse with yearly screenings. Assist in preparing district and state required reports. Maintain a clean and orderly health office, including inventorying as directed by school nurse. Perform clerical and secretarial duties as assigned by school principal including covering office positions during coworkers’ assigned lunches or breaks. Perform other duties as assigned. Knowledge Skills Abilities Possess English language skills. Knowledge of computer and keyboarding skills. Ability to provide customer service and public relations skills. Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions. Maintain cooperative working relationships with staff, students, parents, and general public with diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds. Ability to handle stressful situations. Ability to manage multiple tasks with frequent interruptions. Ability to maintain confidentiality of employment and student matters. Knowledge of safety practices and procedures. Ability to analyze situations, define issues, problem solve, and draw conclusions. Ability to work with students with diverse backgrounds and abilities. Ability to manage time and responsibilities, adapt to changing work priorities, communicate with diverse groups, maintain confidentiality, meet deadlines and schedules. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all District and School requirements and Board policies. Required Qualifications High school diploma, completion of G.E.D, or equivalent. CNA 0r EMT Qualifications Preferred Qualifications Bilingual oral and written communication skills preferred. Necessary special requirements: Montana Driver’s license or the ability to obtain license within three months of hire date. Criminal background check required for hire. CPR and First Aid certifications required within 1 month after hire. Physical and Mental Demands and Work Hazards Frequently required to stand, walk and sit; twist at neck, bend at waist; kneel. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Frequently exercises flexibility (ability to shift from one task to another). Regularly works inside with minimal temperature variations. Ability to meet deadlines with severe time constraints. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling. Significant fine finger dexterity Required to be able to hear conversations in loud and quiet environments. May be required to lift or carry up to 20 pounds on an infrequent basis with or without an accommodation. Guidance and reinforcement are usually available. The employee frequently works within time constraints and must maintain attentiveness intensity. Frequently involved in interactions which require oral and written communications, computation, critical thinking, problem solving and interpersonal skills. Exercises flexibility and the ability to shift from one task to another. Effective hearing and speech abilities. Work area is generally a hazard free environment.
