CRAZY MOUNTAIN CATTLE COMPANY Farm/Ranch Hand in BIG TIMBER, Montana
Temporary full time position from 4/20/2023 to 11/25/2024. Calve out calves during the calving season. Tag calves, medicate, vaccinate and treat for seasonal illnesses. Care for the newborn calves and nursing mothers during the cold weather period when they require addition care and feed due to the extremely cold temperatures and seasonal illnesses. Isolate sick calves. Lambing season begins in May. Be able to assist with sheering of the sheep in April for preparation of lambing and assist the sheep with lambing and care for the newborn lambs and birthing ewes. Tag lambs, medicate, vaccinate and treat for seasonal illnesses. Transport hay bales. Feed cattle and sheep during snowy/subfreezing periods when no seasonal pasture lands remain available for them to naturally graze upon. Remove snow from farm property. Break ice formation in water tanks daily, possibly multiple times a day depending on the temperatures. Fix and repair fencing damaged by drifting snow. Move all livestock out to pasture once seasonal grasslands become accessible. Haul minerals and salt blocks to various pasture lands and check on the water accessibility, periodically throughout each day. Routinely check on livestock in various pasture lands. Assist in sheering of the sheep in April before Lambing Season begins. Other basic Farm Maintenance duties such as welding and shop work.
