Accreditation Readiness MT



Shift: Day

Employment Status: Full-Time (.75 or greater)

Hours per Pay Period: 1.00 = 80 hours (Non-Exempt)

The Accreditation Readiness Technologist provides oversight and is accountable for all Laboratory inspections including coordinating inspection efforts for self-inspection and on-site regulatory inspections, conducting tracers, and following up on corrections to deficiencies. Regulatory agencies may include the College of American Pathologists (CAP), Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT), Det Norske Veritas (DNV), and others as needed. Provides coverage to Medical Technologists on the bench to accommodate department specific regulatory efforts.

Essential Job Functions

•Supports and models behaviors consistent with Billings Clinic’s mission, vision, values, code of business conduct and service expectations. Meets all mandatory organizational and departmental requirements. Maintains competency in all organizational, departmental and outside agency standards as it relates to the environment, employee, patient safety or job performance.

•Provides expert opinion for regulatory checklists, including current, new, revised, and deleted/moved/merged standards. Is responsible for developing the strategic plan to implement oversight activities, and the implementation of this plan.

•Accountable for accreditation oversight at Main Campus Laboratory.

•Provides coverage for Medical Technologists on the bench to support accreditation efforts in the department(s) as approved by leadership.

•Reviews Evidence of Compliance documentation and challenges department/leadership with recommendations to address the regulatory standards.

•Responsible for follow up with leadership to correct regulatory deficiencies and ensures ongoing compliance.

•Consults with and is included in planning discussions on new equipment and test implementations and notification of CAP upon retirement of testing methods.

•Provides status reports on accreditation readiness progress to Laboratory Leadership and department specific Pathologists. Reports will be shared.

•Responsible for the regulatory content of tracers, the completion of these tracers, and the operational recommendations from these tracers.

•Identifies items that need to be included in competencies and makes recommendations to supervisors/leads.

•Participates as a regulatory inspector.

•Responsible for scheduling, and making arrangements for self-inspections and on-site regulatory inspections.

•Accountable for Quality oversight at Main Campus Laboratory; leads laboratory QA meetings and agenda, and tracks quality indicators, i.e., OPPE, laboratory SBARs, audits, and proficiency testing.

•Responsible for the selection, and evaluation of the quality of reference laboratories.

•Responsible for updating the Plan of Care on an annual basis.

•Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.

Minimum Qualifications


  • 4 Year / Bachelors Degree

Clinical Laboratory Science from an accredited C.L.S. program.


  • 3 years of clinical laboratory experience as Medical Technologist.

Certifications and Licenses

  • Current or eligible for Montana license as a Medical Technologist at hire

Other Minimum Qualifications

•Nationally registered as a Medical Technologist, ASCP.

•Previous teaching experience, preferred.

•Billings Clinic laboratory experience, preferred.

•Experience working with accrediting agency standards, preferred.

•Must be able to identify and distinguish color

•Or an equivalent combination of education and experience relating to the above tasks, knowledge, skills and abilities will be considered.
