Shift: Day, Evenings, Nights, Weekends

Employment Status: Full-Time (.75 or greater)

Hours per Pay Period: 1.00 = 80 hours (Exempt)

Starting Wage DOE: $42.96 - $53.70

This role provides immediate supervision, direction and support to clinical and non-clinical departments within Billings Clinic, providing administrative presence and support in conjunction with and or in the absence of leadership team. Responsibilities include acting as an administrative resource and liaison to outside agencies such as law enforcement and the media, attending to patient and family issues, ensuring proper staffing, dealing with emergency situations and resolving problems while fulfilling the leadership role throughout the organization to ensure quality patient care. Maintains established organizational and departmental policies and procedures, quality improvement programs, safety and environmental standards and regulations.

Essential Job Functions

• Supports and models behaviors consistent with the mission and philosophy of Billings Clinic and department/service. Responsible for promotion of, and adherence to, the elements of Billings Clinic’s Code of Business Conduct and corporate compliance program.

• Acts as a clinical resource, educator, mentor and provides leadership to all staff members seeking advice for clarification of a policy and/or procedural issues. Demonstrates and encourages an ethic of open communication, collaboration and teamwork throughout the organization. Participates in building an environment of shared commitment to Billings Clinic’s goals and responsibility to achieve quality outcomes.

• Acts as a liaison and patient advocate to the community demonstrating sensitivity to the ethical and legal ramifications of practice. Responsible for coordination of requests for media calls, outside agency contacts, employee information, and/or requests from various funeral homes in the event of a patient/resident death.

• Serves as a resource in the resolution of complex patient issues and complaints. Coordinates notification of appropriate personnel for special procedures, on-call staff including administration/management, tissue/organ donation and/or autopsy.

• Conducts rounds throughout the organization making contact with physicians, staff and/or patients to facilitate effective patient care, organizational communication and teamwork. Evaluate situations immediately, takes action as deemed appropriate. Documents and reports to the appropriate members of the leadership team.

• Coordinates and optimizes staffing needs based on staffing guidelines, anticipated and actual departmental activity, patient acuity, case mix and staff competencies. Maintains staffing sheets daily. Works closely with Staffing Representative, Charge Nurses and Leadership when making staffing decisions.

• Coordinates the admission, discharge and transfer processes to minimize divert and ensure appropriate patient placements to minimize transfers.

• Responds and supports CPR team and STAT team.

• Provides resource support and direction to employees who report on the job injury or illness.

• Acts in a fiscally prudent manner and is committed to cost containment efforts. Make recommendations regarding the availability of adequate resources as appropriate.

• Provides performance feedback to staff and managers, and makes recommendations for disciplinary actions as may be appropriate.

• Maintains competency in all organizational, departmental and outside agency environmental, employee or patient safety standards relevant to job performance.

• Acts as the initial contact for potential disasters and makes decisions to implement the emergency preparedness plan as appropriate. Responds to and coordinates the disaster until relieved of duty.

• Identifies needs and sets goals for own growth and development; meets all mandatory organizational and departmental requirements. Participates in organizational and departmental meetings as requested.

• Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

• Minimum Bachelor's Degree

• Masters Degree preferred

Experience

• Three (3) years of acute care clinical experience in an acute care setting

• Demonstrated management/leadership and program management experience

• Critical care experience, preferred

• Previous scheduling coordination experience, preferred

• Previous bed placement procedure experience, preferred

Certifications and Licenses

• Registered nurse or other registered/licensed clinical position

Or an equivalent combination of education and experience relating to the above tasks, knowledge, skills and abilities will be considered. Employees that require a licensed or certification must be properly licensed/certified and the licensure/certification must be in good standing.
