Hours per Pay Period: 1.00 = 80 hours (Exempt)

Starting Wage DOE

Responsible for leading and directing all operational functions within the department of Anesthesia. Works in a dyad relationship with Chair of Anesthesia. Works collegially with Perioperative leadership to maximize efficiency and effectiveness of all procedural areas. Develops strategic partnerships with all surgical division Chairs to enhance service and further strengthen levels. Provides executive and operational leadership to develop and strengthen the Anesthesia Department through facilitating strategic market growth and development, and operational performance. Position is accountable to strengthen the anesthesia services by enhancing business operations, improving the quality of clinical care delivery through effectively leveraging the resources of Billings Clinic and driving efficiencies through oversight and collaboration with CMO and Chair of Anesthesia department. Position provides operational oversight and leadership and serves as content expert for governance, financial oversight and clinical services.

Essential Job Functions

• Develops an Annual Budget for Department of Anesthesia, monitoring and reporting on budgetary goals.

• Review and report P&L for the department, detailing insight into future results based on anticipated changes in staffing/coverage plan.

• Develop monthly reports (in conjunction with Chair of Anesthesia) for review by Chief Medical Officer, Chief Financial Officer and other C-Suite members as directed.

• Engages with billing and collections contracted company that negotiates commercial professional fee contracts.

• Aggressively monitors effectiveness of outsourced revenue cycle management efforts.

• Produces reports (inclusive of analysis/recommendations) that analyze payor trends, anesthesia site utilization, procedure volumes and surgeon/specialty specific needs.

• Oversees quality payment program and be principally responsible for participation in MACRA/MIPS/APM quality programs as applicable.

• Provides leadership in implementing clinical business plans and operations. Collaborates with Chief Medical Officer AND Chair of Anesthesia to develop and support provider practices including quality/patient safety, patient access, practice reporting, revenue analysis and billings/coding documentation.

• Serves as a liaison and channel of communication between all Billings Clinic programs and services.

• Ensures compliance and regulations of governing facilities and rules of accrediting bodies by monitoring service delivery and partnering Chief Medical Officer AN implement required changes. Fosters smooth functioning, efficient organization through timely and effective resolutions of disruptions.

• Develops, retains, recruits, and leads a talented team committed to accomplishing the goals and objectives of Billings Clinic. Recommends, implements, and evaluates plans and systems that assure enough qualified and competent staff to provide care/services. Adheres to administrative policy/procedures relating to human resources management.

• Effectively utilizes the principles of management to ensure continual delivery of optimal care.

• Manages daily operations / coverage plans by creating and implementing procedures and creating, reviewing and revising policies.

• Directs and manages any non-clinical operations (i.e. Billing & Collections contracted service).

• Develops organizational strategic plans and objectives with sensitivity toward Perioperative goals, surgeon stakeholder needs/objectives including expansion of services.

• Stays abreast of industry trends, including those that impact staffing costs, professional fee payments.

• Demonstrates and encourages an ethic of open communication and teamwork throughout the organization and in the community.. Builds an environment of shared commitment to Billings Clinic’s goals and responsibility to achieve quality outcomes.

• Maintains a high level of satisfaction within Billings Clinic among health care providers, physicians, and employees by providing an environment conducive to maximum individual and collective productivity.

• Participates in evaluating, selecting, and integrating health care technology and information systems that support quality of care, financial needs and efficient use of resources. Assures information systems meet the objective of providing appropriate, accurate, and timely information to all internal and external constituencies.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

• Minimum 4 Year / Bachelors Degree Business Administration or Healthcare Administration or related field.

• Masters degree Healthcare Administration or Business Administration, highly desired.

Experience

• 3 years successful experience working in a clinic/group practice performing administration in a healthcare organization.

• 2 years successful leadership and managerial experience.

• 5 years successful experience working in Anesthesia Administration, preferred.

• Executive level leadership/management experience with experience in a physician practice and hospital setting., highly preferred

Certifications and Licenses

• Certified Medical Practice Executive (CMPE) Highly Desired. The ability to obtain this certification is an expectation of the role.

• Certified American College of Healthcare Executives (CACHE) Highly Desired. The ability to obtain this certification is an expectation of the role, advancement to Fellowship status within 3 years.

• MT Driver License or the ability to obtain one at hire. Ability to be insured to operate organization vehicles.

Or an equivalent combination of education and experience relating to the above tasks, knowledge, skills and abilities will be considered. Employees that require a licensed or certification must be properly licensed/certified and the licensure/certification must be in good standing.
