SUMMARY

This position provides a broad range of functions for the First Interstate Wealth Management Asset Management team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties and responsibilities include the following:

  • Oversee the trading of various securities including mutual funds, bonds, and individual equities. Responsibilities include becoming the subject matter expert on the PME trading platform and providing guidance to the portfolio managers on how to best execute complex transactions.
  • Utilize various software systems to design, develop, maintain, prepare, and distribute reports utilized by various constituents including the Investment Policy Committee.
  • Act as the subject matter expert on the Performance Station performance measurement and reporting system. Responsibilities include developing and implementing reporting methodologies to support management of portfolios and reporting for clients.
  • Design, develop, maintain and update strategy models on trading platform, including optimizing construction methodology.
  • Participate in the oversight of investment management accounts, including monitoring asset allocation mixes, generating required liquidity, and completion of annual regulatory reviews.
  • Actively participate in meetings of the Investment Policy Committee and other committees to which a candidate may be assigned.
  • Gather, analyze, and communicate investment research information. Stay informed of developments in the investment markets and effectively communicate that information.
  • Contribute to the retention and growth of Wealth Management division assets under management, including the development of marketing materials, and completing RFP responses.
  • Identify opportunities for increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of our work, including collaborative problem solving.
  • Comply with corporate and division regulatory requirements, policies and procedures. Also assist the Asset Management team in meeting regulatory and audit compliance requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree or equivalent and a minimum of 3 years related work experience is desired. Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or other investment training would be beneficial.

OTHER SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS

Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to work well with co-workers. Ability to properly prioritize workload and remain adaptable under pressure. Pay close attention to detail. Computer skills essential. Experience with the use of software programs utilized by the department, including Microsoft Office, Bloomberg Professional, and the SEI Wealth Platform.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend technical instructions, correspondence, memos, policies and procedures and laws and regulations. Ability to read policy and procedure manuals. Ability to write complex correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Effectively communicate with supervisor.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area etc. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand and sit. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
