Position General Responsibilities:

Assist the bank in overall compliance with laws, rules and regulations as directed by the SVP Residential Real Estate Manager. Assist in the monitoring of Stockman Bank’s overall compliance programs with emphasis in Secondary Market Lending. Provide assistance in interpretation of rules and regulations and assist in the development of products/services and general framework for bank management and employees to conduct business in compliance with federal and state laws and regulations.

Basic Qualifications:

  1. Strong commitment to providing exceptional customer service.

  2. Undergraduate degree or financial industry-specific coursework may substitute for the higher education requirement.

  3. Two years experience in a position with demonstrated ability to effectively organize projects and prioritize workflow.

  4. Working knowledge of Word, Excel, Access or related software.

  5. Demonstrated ability to provide information in concise verbal and written formats is essential for job success.


  1. Compliance or Bank regulatory specific experience a plus.

  2. Mortgage banking courses highly desirable.

Dimension of Job:

Position is responsible for monitoring and/or development of bank-wide regulatory compliance programs with emphasis in fair lending regulations. This function includes researching and interpreting applicable regulations, developing and resenting training programs, fielding questions from bank personnel, and reviewing processes to determine level of compliance. Incumbent collaborates with Real Estate department management and those affected by changing laws and regulations to ensure appropriate changes are implemented. This position will also serve as the primary lead for all credit-related Real Estate regulatory compliance:

  1. Policies and procedures

  2. Risk assessments

  3. Implement new laws and regulations

Position Specific Responsibilities, Duties and Competencies:

Compliance Functions:

  • Implement and monitor an internal compliance audit monitoring program for the following departments: Residential Real Estate, Mortgage Processing, and Mortgage Underwriting.

  • The Compliance Officer consults and coordinates with Business Unit Compliance Officers, senior management, and internal audit department personnel regarding new and revised legislations and regulations, and revisions and new additions to policies, procedures and products.

  • This position must maintain working relationship with the Compliance Departments.

Public Relations:

a.Promote the improvement of Stockman Bank through quality customer service, promotion of products, professionalism in conduct and diligent work ethic.

b.Greet all customers pleasantly and make them feel welcome and comfortable.

c.Handle transactions quickly and professionally.

d.Effectively handle customer questions and problems.

Federal Regulations:

  • Maintain an expert working knowledge of Bank's compliance programs, processes and written policies and procedures that apply to and concern this position’s area of responsibility, including fair lending and all pertinence regulations such as the Bank Secrecy Act, Regulation CC, Regulation E, Bank Security and various other Federal and State regulations as they apply.

  • Constant lifting/carrying up to 25 pounds. Constantly required to stand, walk, sit, talk, hear, write, read and keyboard. The employee is also constantly required to reach with hands and arms, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects and to climb or balance. The employee is also required to climb up and down stairs as the work station is located in the basement of the building.

  • The employee is frequently required to drive a vehicle.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee constantly works with time constraints and exercises flexibility (the ability to shift from one task to another).
