NORTHWESTERN ENERGY Electric Distribution Standards Engineer in BILLINGS, Montana
Location negotiable in South Dakota or Montana service territory: Billings, Bozeman, Butte, Great Falls, Helena, Missoula
QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
- Ability to demonstrate and maintain a good safety record
- Ability to handle multiple and simultaneous tasks to meet aggressive deadlines
- Organized and have the ability to work effectively with others
- Practical working knowledge of Microsoft applications
- Valid Drivers License and satisfactory driving record
- Ability to spend most job time in office environment, with some exposure to field environment and weather
- Ability to travel for business up to 20% of the time
- Ability to pass an employment physical, a drug test and a background check
- Professional Engineer's License, or ability to obtain, preferred
- Excellent communications skills and technical writing skills preferred
- Experience in electric utility is highly preferred
- Knowledge of the NESC and the NEC Codes is desired
DUTIES INCLUDE:
- Responsible for electric distribution construction standards and material specifications taking into consideration code (NESC and NEC) compliance, sound engineering judgment, workability in the field and cost effectiveness
- Lead applicable standards, policy and procedure committee meetings and reviews
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships at all levels
- Provide standards related training to field engineers and craft personnel
- Provide, evaluate and approve a consistent and modern approach to standards development and refinement
- Develop, revise and implement standard specifications as necessary, including materials, equipment and tooling
- Respond to internal/external inquiries related to materials and standards
- Perform field and engineering assessments for operating needs
- Research and stay current with industry best practices around electric distribution system construction, include engineering and material solutions
- Compile and write technical reports
- Adhere to company safety standards and the Code of Business Conduct & Ethics
- Ensure all actions are consistent with NorthWestern Energy's values, mission and strategic business objectives
Full-time position.
$81,200 - $135,200 annually, depending on experience.
