ELECTROPHYSIOLOGY TECHNOLOGIST I - CATH LAB

CATH LAB/EP - 6310 (BILLINGS CLINIC HOSPITAL)

Employment Status: Full-Time (.75 or greater)

Hours per Pay Period: 1.00 = 80 hours (Non-Exempt)

Starting Wage DOE: $32.77 - 44.58

May be eligible for a $20,000 sign on incentive

With minimal supervision, assists and performs adult diagnostic and interventional electrophysiology procedures. This includes ablations and device implantation. Able to meet all performance standards in the scrub, monitor, and circulating positions. Works well with a team and is an effective team member. Responsible for patient and family education and support.

Essential Job Functions

• Scrub: Scrub assistant to the physician. Sets up and maintains the sterile field as well as arterial and venous lines. Positions patient while under the radiation beam to visualize cardiac and peripheral anatomy. Performs angiographic analysis, assists in catheter/wire manipulation. Operates x-ray equipment, balancing quality imaging with radiation safety.

• Circulator: Monitors the patient condition and response to treatment pre, during, and post procedure. Circulators need to have a basic knowledge of medications patients are receiving in the EP Lab. Provides procedural education for patients and family. Safely transports patients to and from the Cath Lab. Verifies proper patient preparation pre-procedure. Performs arterial/venous sheath removal. Able to operate and troubleshoot Cath Lab EP procedural equipment.

• Monitor: Monitors patients throughout diagnostic and interventional procedures. Responsible for identifying changes in patient’s rhythm and hemodynamic status. Responsible for accurate and thorough data collection, measurement, and calculations. Able to function independently with hemodynamic monitoring equipment which includes operation, troubleshooting, and calibration. Completes patient charges. Functions as the primary person to communicate with nursing units, OR, and patient’s families as needed.

• Equipment operations: Assist with operating and troubleshooting equipment in the EP lab. This equipment includes, but is not limited to x-ray, XPER monitoring system and database, EP monitoring system and database, intravascular ultrasound, ablation system, cardiac stimulator, cautery/grounding, and intra-cardiac echocardiography, reporting problems to internal or external service representatives and documenting as such. Work closely with the Bio Medical Department to ensure that preventative maintenance is done timely.

• Informs management of any unusual concerns, situations, or conditions relative to staff, patients, and physicians.

• Identifies needs and sets goals for own growth and development.

• Attends Cath lab staff meetings and participates in departmental committees as required.

• Maintains working knowledge of all products/procedures related to electrophysiology and device procedures.

• Communicates regularly with other staff regarding changes in the workflow schedule or physician protocol.

• Assists in identifying products needed (out of stock or new items)

• Assumes equitable share of department housekeeping duties (cleaning, restocking, filing, etc.).

• Utilizes non-procedure time in a constructive manner to benefit the department or organization.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

• Graduate of Cardiovascular school or other related medical specialty OR graduate of a recognized approved American Medical • Association Council of Education program in Radiological Technology

Certifications and Licenses

• RCES/HRS/CEPS or equivalent Preferred

• Current CPR Class C certification At hire

• ACLS certification preferred Preferred

• ARRT - Current Montana license as a Radiology Technologist Preferred

Or an equivalent combination of education and experience relating to the above tasks, knowledge, skills and abilities will be considered. Employees that require a licensed or certification must be properly licensed/certified and the licensure/certification must be in good standing.
