Summary:

Tetra Tech's Billings, MT office is currently seeking an Environmental Scientist. This role is primarily a field role, with typical tasks including fieldwork planning and preparation, groundwater sampling, soil logging, oversight for drilling and installation of monitoring and production wells, remedial system operation and maintenance, data compilation, and analysis. Field work will also consist of the collection and proper documentation of soil, vapor, and groundwater samples for environmental investigations.

Tasks may also include, Phase I Environmental Site Assessments and site inspections, remediation implementation, and coordination and oversight of subcontractors. Field tasks and travel are estimated to be from 25 to 75% of the time, depending on the time of year, and may occasionally require night and weekend shifts. Office tasks may include, depending on the level of the candidate's prior experience, preparing work plans, health and safety plans, and technical reports, including data tables, charts, and figures. The candidate will work under the guidance of senior staff.

Your Role:
Groundwater, soil, and soil gas sample collection.
Remedial system operation and maintenance (O&M).
Various Environmental Sampling.
Excavation oversight.
Drilling oversight and sampling.
Data entry, processing, and tabulation.
Preparation of sections of technical reports and proposals.
Management and maintenance of field equipment.


Qualifications:
Candidates must have a Bachelor's Degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Sciences, Environmental Engineering or related discipline.
2 - 4 years of previous experience in environmental and remediation projects (investigation and remedial actions).
Valid 40-hour HAZWOPER certificate with associated 8-hour HAZWOPER annual refresher and Supervisor Training certificates are desirable.
Attention to detail, excellent technical abilities, project/task management, strong communication skills, good technical writing skills, and an ability to quickly learn new skills are required.
Proficiency with the MS Office suite.
Database development/management, and CAD or GIS experience is desirable.
Should have a good work ethic, a positive attitude, and the ability to work in a team environment as well as independently.
Ability to travel and perform fieldwork (minimum 25% to 75% of travel required expected).
Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
A Pre-employment drug screening in compliance with state regulations is required.
Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.

Target salary range: $55,000 to $65,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
