Employment Status: Full-Time (.75 or greater)

Hours per Pay Period: 0.90 = 72 hours (Non-Exempt)

Starting Wage DOE: $17.15 - 21.44

Under general supervision and according to established procedure, cleans and assembles equipment, orders and stocks supplies within department and satellite stations, and sets up and maintains patient care equipment.

Essential Job Functions

• Supports and models behaviors consistent with Billings Clinic’s mission, vision, values, code of business conduct and service expectations. Meets all mandatory organizational and departmental requirements. Maintains competency in all organizational, departmental and outside agency standards as it relates to the environment, employee, patient safety or job performance.

• Dissembles, cleans, disinfects, rinses, dries, assembles, assures proper function, packages and dispenses permanent semi-critical respiratory therapy equipment, including but not limited to: volume ventilators including SST testing for adult & neonate as well as initial troubleshooting issues; CPAP/BiPAP pressure checks; Hi-Flow set-ups; ultrasonic nebulizers, bronchoscopes, etc. in accordance with infection control standards.

• Utilizes computer information systems for supply PAR levels for the department, supply availability and ordering.

• Rounds, monitors and refills respiratory/pulmonary supplies throughout assigned areas of the organization (Clinic, ICU, NICU, Emergency Department, Hyperbarics, and all floor areas of the hospital and equipment areas, etc.) from predetermined par levels and within established budgetary guidelines. Organizes and maintains supply area to ensure work areas are neat and organized and supplies are readily available for future patient care needs.

• Inventories and orders medical gases, pharmaceutical, and departmental supplies on a biweekly and as needed.

• Updates orders and stock lists to assure current stock is accurate and available.

• Performs daily log checks and restocks a variety of carts, kits, eye wash stations, bronchoscopy carts, CPR carts, etc. while monitoring for expired supplies.

• Researches equipment and products for improvement of respiratory care products to meet the demands of new technology.

Assures respiratory therapists remain competent with equipment processing in the absence of an equipment technician.

• Inspects all products received from Supply Chain Operations to ensure against damage and shortages/overages. Works closely with Supply Chain Operations regarding discrepancy reports, quantity ordered against quantity received, wrong catalogue numbers, conditions of supplies, etc.

• According to standard procedures, sets up routine oxygen devices, verifies prescribed fraction of inspired oxygen by use of an oxygen analyzer, and recognizes and reports deficiencies of oxygen or other devices.

• Performs internal testing protocols for equipment prior to patient use. Troubleshoots any problems and refers, reports and delivers defective equipment to BioMed and/or Supervisor. Responsible for follows up on repair progress and return of equipment.

• Identifies needs and sets goals for own growth and development; meets all mandatory system/departmental requirements.

• Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.

Experience

• Good writing and communication skills

• Hospital based or inventory handling experience preferred
