CITY OF BILLINGS FACILITIES MAINTENANCE SUPPORT II in BILLINGS, Montana
The Facilities Maintenance Support II performs a combination of routine cleaning and sanitation of assigned facilities and grounds as well as maintenance duties related to building plant systems and other facility related maintenance. Duties include cleaning floors, walls, windows, sidewalks, restrooms, work areas, break areas and public access areas of public buildings. Duties include removal of waste materials, collection of recyclable materials, landscaping and snow removal. Duties may include being observant of potential safety and security problems. Additional duties include mechanical and plumbing repairs, carpentry as well as maintaining boilers and related duties. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Performs routine cleaning and sanitation duties. - Uses vacuum cleaners, floor scrubbers, carpet cleaners, polishers, floor waxers as well as hand cleaning supplies to maintain facilities. - Safely uses cleaning chemicals. - Removes waste material to dumpsters and recycling to proper collection locations. - Removes snow from sidewalk areas and ensures that ice conditions are treated with salt or sand. - Performs landscape maintenance. - Performs daily boiler checks, blowdowns, controls checks, and chemical treatment operation. - Performs weekly, bi-monthly, monthly, quarterly and annual duties related to the maintenance and operation of building mechanical and electrical systems. - Performs a regular cleaning and janitorial materials inventory and maintains MSDS books in all appropriate locations. - May order department supplies in order to maintain a working inventory. - Receives janitorial supplies and stores them in designated areas. - Observes people or conditions that may present a threat to safety and security and reports them to the proper authorities. - Observes burnt out lights and either repairs them or reports them to maintenance staff for correction. - Observes unattended packages left in the facility and calls for assistance if there is a possibility of a hazard. - Monitors HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems as directed and provides maintenance support to facilities maintenance staff. - Patches and paints walls in assigned areas and performs other carpentry duties as assigned. - Electrical repairs such as switch and receptacle replacement, driver replacement. - Office furniture assembly and assists others with moves. - Repairs faucets and valves and performs other plumbing repairs. - Cleans and/or replaces air filters and checks belts in HVAC equipment. - Performs repair and maintenance duties on doors and door hardware. - May provide routine responses to the public on basic questions such as directions. Required Qualifications and Skills: - High school diploma or equivalent. - Two (2) years facility maintenance and custodial experience, or equivalent. - Must be able to answer basic questions from the public in a courteous manner. - Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and a Federal fingerprint based criminal background check. - Must have a valid Montana driver's license or must be obtained within thirty (30) days of employment. - Must have a Low Pressure Boiler License or must be obtained within one hundred eighty (180) days of employment. - Must have knowledge of basic computer skills to use systems related to HVAC. - Must be able to utilize email and the Internet. - Must be able to operate and repair and variety of hand tools, power tools, and medium sized equipment such as drills, saws, hammers, chainsaw, riding lawn mowers, weed eaters, and scissor lift. Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Salary: $21.3172 - $25.8914 per hour. Salary reflects Step 2 and Step 6 of a 7-step pay scale.
