Ground Paramedic - ED (0.9) EMERGENCY DEPT SERVICES (BILLINGS CLINIC HOSPITAL) req8426Shift: VariesEmployment Status: Full-Time (.75 or greater) Hours per Pay Period: 0.90 = 72 hours (Non-Exempt) Starting Wage DOE: $22.78 - 28.48/hrResponsible for assisting with patient care tasks in accordance with scope of practice and under the direction or supervision of the medical director. Provides direct and indirect patient care. Communicates with physicians/Registered Nurse/Nurse Manager/co-workers, as appropriate about changes in patient's clinical condition including results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology. Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS1. Performs patient care in the Emergency Department and ground medical transports within the defined scope of practice for specific education/certification level and as directed or supervised by the charge nurse and/or physician. Complies with applicable State of Montana rules and regulations, Emergency Department and Billings Clinic policies and procedures.2. Ensures adequate supply stocking. Informs appropriate personnel of equipment needing repair and initiates work requisitions.3. Actively participates in covering the staffing needs of the department.a. Utilizes performance improvement principles to assess and improve quality.4. Identifies needs and sets goals for own growth and development; meets all mandatory organizational and departmental requirements.5. Maintains competency in all organizational, departmental and outside agency safety standards relevant to job performance.Able to perform and document urine dip, urine pregnancy tests and point of care blood glucoseAbility to adequately reassess pain. Utilizes appropriate pain management techniques. Educates the patient and family regarding painDemonstrates ability to perform unit specific competencies.
