SUMMARY

Reviews, analyzes and decisions indirect loan requests within a fast-paced environment and within assigned lending authority; refers to appropriate higher level of authority as necessary. Analyzes loan applications, spreads and analyzes financial statements and income tax returns, obtains credit information and generates documentation to support the credit decision. Communicates all authorizations, special conditions or declinations to dealer. Maintains a quality loan portfolio. May cross sell bank products and services, as well as participate in business development activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following; other duties may be assigned.

  • Efficient, thorough and timely underwriting of indirect loan requests consistent with established guidelines, policies and regulations.
  • Obtains credit information necessary to support decision; approve or decline loan requests within scope of authority; recommend appropriate decisions on credit requests in excess of individual lending authority.
  • Perform cash flow analysis by spreading and analyzing personal and business income tax returns and financial statements with minimal assistance from a senior loan officer.
  • Communicate loan terms and pricing with Dealer.
  • Maintain a percentage of credit quality, error, override, delinquency, repossession and loan loss ratios consistent with Bank standards.
  • Provide consistent quality service to Dealers to support and enhance indirect banking relationships; may also cross sell bank products and services as appropriate.
  • Maintain awareness of current indirect lending trends and developments, and comply with all applicable federal and state regulatory regulations.
  • May participate in business development activities to ensure the growth and retention of desired bank products and services.
  • Ability to work overtime and flexible hours as needed. This includes evenings and weekends.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High School diploma or general education degree (GED) and two years' underwriting experience. Preference given to applicants with indirect lending experience.

OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES

Interpersonal verbal and written communication skills are essential, as is a strong commitment to quality customer service. Good product knowledge, credit analysis and accounting skills. Knowledge of bank operations, systems, policies and procedures and applicable regulatory requirements.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Ability to effectively communicate with dealers, sales representatives, loan processors, bank personnel and customers.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference with ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.
