This includes scheduling and performing preventative maintenance of mechanical equipment and ensuring proper recordkeeping procedures. Other duties might also include: operation of forklifts, front end loaders and tractors with snow brooms. This position may assist carpenters, plumbers, painters, HVAC technicians, and electricians as needed.DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:•Use appropriate equipment to perform lawn work, move snow, perform landscaping•Move furniture for Painters and other trade employees•Cleanup, lift materials, assist carpenters•Assist electricians with pulling wire and hanging equipment•Assist Plumbers with jetting lines•Move furniture per department request or for other Facilities Services projects•Coordinate work orders with class and event schedules to ensure work is performed timely and correctly•Maintain paperwork for projects and vendors•Act as lead worker to student workers and temporary workers by assigning tasks and providing necessary training•Perform preventative maintenance on air handlers, motors, fans, heaters, small engines and automobiles•Perform scheduled filter and belt changes and adjustments. Lube, inspection, and cleaning of air handlers, exhaust fans, compressors, AC units, condensing units and intake vents and ductwork•Perform scheduled inspections of sprinkler systems’ main valve and gauges, elevator, fire operations and safety procedures•Read, record and inspect all meters•Perform record-keeping activities to show the details of the maintenance that was completed•Ensure preventative maintenance is done on schedule by keeping detailed records•Work safely and encourage safe working behaviors from others so that a safe work culture is developed and maintained.•Participate in and complete all safety training on time•Report incidents or injuries immediately•Participate in required and optional safety training and drillsQUALITIES:•Punctuality - is consistently at work and on time•Excellent oral communication skills; communicates positively with stakeholders•Excellent written communication skills; able to read and interpret written information•Excellent customer service skills - manages difficult or emotional customer situations; responds promptly to customer needs; meets commitmentsRequired Qualifications - Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills•Maintain a valid Montana Driver’s License•Able to operate machinery for long periods of time•Understand basic lawn care•Able to use power towels and follow directions•Understand basic construction trades knowledge•Able to lift 50 pounds•Understand basic computer skills•Understand and able to perform excellent Customer service•Understand prioritization - by work order type and customer need•Able to direct other workers as needed•Able to perform general maintenance work•Able to maintain records and schedule work loadPHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires strenuous physical labor; some heavy lifting, bending stooping, climbing and working in some inclement weather. Position will require working from ladders, scaffolding and heights. Job hazards will be working with power equipment.
