Medical Equipment Delivery Specialist



Shift: Day

Employment Status: Full-Time (.75 or greater)

Hours per Pay Period: 1.00 = 80 hours (Non-Exempt)

The incumbent in this position is responsible for equipment maintenance and set up, preparation and operation of the liquid fill station, education of patients/clients on the safety aspects of equipment operation and maintenance. Responsible to evaluate the home environment and the patient/client’s ability to deal with the specific equipment used and educate/train them accordingly. Consults with and makes recommendations to physicians, nurses, and members of the health care team regarding patient/client related care, sales and services as needed. Effectively implements prescribed DME equipment and applies equipment knowledge for any given scenario to meet patient/client needs. Responsible for documentation of all training, and follow up performed. Participates in the marketing and sales of all home oxygen/DME services.

Essential Job Functions

• Instructs in the use of a full range of durable medical equipment services to patients/clients.

• Recognizes and reports any unusual reactions to treatment or equipment and/or contraindications to treatment, equipment or inappropriate use of therapy or equipment.

• Checks and maintains durable medical equipment in stock, to ensure proper function and safety prior to issue.

• Maintains and records all patient interactions in patient chart, in department records, and in appropriate computer databases for all DME interventions.

• Gives and receives reports to/from relief staff.

• Accurately evaluates patient/client status relating to his/her DME needs and suggests appropriate interventions to the other members of the health care team.

• Cleans, disinfects, reassembles, and verifies proper operation of all DME and oxygen equipment.

• Implements necessary changes based on physician orders for DME equipment.

• Assists Coordinator in the marketing and sales of DME services to existing and potential patients/clients. Presents a professional appearance and attitude while representing Billings Clinic.

• Conducts educational sessions for department, ancillary departments, patients, families, caregivers, and clients as necessary.

• Utilizes performance improvement principles to assess and improve quality of service. Participates in the service Quality Improvement program.

• Identifies needs and sets goals for own growth and development; meets all system/departmental requirements. core

• Maintains competency in all organizational, departmental and outside agency safety standards relevant to job performance. core

• Performs other duties as assigned or as needed to meet the needs of the department/service. Assists the coordinator with marketing and promotional activity as directed.

Minimum Qualifications


•High school graduate or equivalent


•One year of experience working with home care and DME, preferred

•Sales and marketing experience preferred

Certifications and Licensures

•Successful completion of Department of Transportation (DOT) physical required within six (6) months of employment

•Montana commercial class C with hazardous endorsement drivers license must be obtained within six (6) months of employment; position requires good driving record and the ability to be insured to operate Billings Clinic vehicles—required for Billings Home Oxygen only; Livingston Home Oxygen services do not require this.

•Certified in Basic Life Support
