Job Type: Full-time with overtime

Experience: 1 year preferred

Reports to: Aggregate Foreman, no supervisory responsibility

Wage: $25+ per hour (based on experience and qualifications)

Job Summary:

The Mechanic is responsible for performing a full range of repairs and modification work on heavy equipment vehicles. Take ownership of your role by performing repairs promptly and completely, keeping the shop area clean, maintaining courteous customer relations, and working with a team that feels like family.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform a full range of repair and modification work on heavy equipment vehicles including, but not limited to, light-duty and heavy-duty trucks, backhoes, loaders, paving equipment, and miscellaneous equipment.

  • Repair tires, wheels, wheel bearings, idler wheels, idler bearings, and oil seals.

  • Repair hydraulic and air brake systems.

  • Determine the nature and extent of repairs required.

  • Perform minor repairs on engines, power transmissions, transfers, and related electrical, fuel, and hydraulic components.

  • Use technical manuals and other publications to identify and order repair parts.

  • Operate and inspect machines or equipment to diagnose defects.

  • Examine parts for damage or excessive wear, using testing equipment such as compression testers, computer software tools, test meters, micrometers, gauges, and overall strong diagnostic skills.

  • Team player mentality and eagerness to cross-train.

  • Willingness to perform duties outside the normal scope of work as this job description is non-exhaustive.

Position Requirements:

  • Consent to authorization of a pre-employment work screen, Motor Vehicle Record request, and drug test.

  • Class A or B CDL and current Medical DOT card.

  • Accreditation from a school of mechanics or 3+ years working with heavy construction equipment.

  • Possess excellent communication skills and understand instructions in both written and verbal forms.

  • Dependability and reliability by showing up to scheduled shifts on time and being prepared for work.

  • A positive attitude is critical to ensure productive working relationships with co-workers and management.

  • Continuous exposure to weather elements including heat, cold, noise, dusty conditions, and working outdoors.

  • Overnight travel is not standard but may be required.
