SCL Health Paramedic Ground Transport in Billings, Montana

Job Description:

Performs comprehensive care of patients in transport between facilities. Administers certain classes of emergency medications in accordance with the Rule and Regulations of the Scope of Practice for Paramedics in the State of Montana. This position operates under the oversite of the HELP Flight Medical Director.

As a Paramedic Ground Transport you will need to:

  • Assess patient's physical condition and psychosocial health status upon initial examination and during flight, provide care as appropriate to stabilize the patient in transport until destination is reached

  • Ensure scene-safety principles are performed and observed related to the crew and the patient

  • Be capable to deliver out-of-hospital care comparable to tertiary ICU care during inter-facility transport to a higher level tertiary ICU to include central line and invasive monitoring

  • Utilize appropriate resources to assist in identification and stabilization of high-risk situations and provides interventions as indicated for patient need and comfort to include advanced airway management, disaster and triage, environmental emergencies, hemodynamic monitoring, infection control and prevention, mechanical ventilation for adult, pediatric and neonatal patients as appropriate, medical emergencies, knowledge and emergency management of transcutaneous ventricular assist devices (e.g. LVAD, BiVAD, RVAD), management of high risk obstetrical emergencies to include tocolytics and fetal doppler/fetal heart rate monitoring, and management of multi-system trauma

  • Have advanced knowledge of medications and infusions utilized in advanced life support and critical care formulary

Minimum Qualifications

  • Montana State Licensed Paramedic

  • 1 year of ALS, critical care experience as a flight/surface transport paramedic or in-hospital experience is required.

  • 3 years of ALS, critical care experience as a flight/surface transport paramedic (preferred)

  • Basic Life Cardiac Life Support (BLS)

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

  • National Registered Paramedic (NRP) within 12 months of hire

  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) within 12 months of hire

  • FEMA IS 100 & IS 200.b within 12 months of hire

  • Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) audit or Transport Professional Advanced Trauma Course (TPATC) within 18 months of hire

  • Certified Critical Care Paramedic (CCP-C) within 2 years of hire
