What will you do as a Production Control Specialist?

As part of the Manufacturing Team, the Production Control Specialist maintains and troubleshoots production equipment from various suppliers. responsible for maintaining the production equipment according to safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems and processes to support the company’s business goals and objectives. This position identifies and prioritizes controls/electrical opportunities to maximize operations performance of line equipment within a facility. Position develops and maintains electrical and controls system documentation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist production workers in operating and monitoring equipment in an efficient manner.

  • Analyze production line to identify areas for continuous improvement.

  • Responsible for the prevention of widespread breakdown in production.

  • Adhere to good manufacturing practices and safety standards.

  • Watch for potential problems on the production line.

  • Assist in equipment change-overs and production equipment is maintained at company standards

  • Assist management with process equipment and product/package troubleshooting.

  • Execute small and medium projects involving PLC 5, SLC 500, Controls Logix, Panel View Plus and Allen Bradley VFDs

  • Identify and prioritize controls/electrical opportunities to maximize operations performance within a facility.

  • Troubleshoot equipment problems and perform immediate repairs

  • Develop and maintain electrical and controls system documentation.

  • Maintain and troubleshoot production equipment from various suppliers.

  • Quickly identify root causes of problems, mechanical, controls or joint problems and coordinate resources necessary to address them.

  • Develop control software to achieve the balance between mechanical and controls changes to effectively handle all containers.

  • Maintain Allen Bradley hardware and software: PLCs, VFDs, HMIs, Networks and various electrical systems.

  • Be part of the team that supervises the electrical installation /integration of equipment and controls.

JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Mechanical skills.

  • Ability to diagnose problems and formulate solutions on production machinery and building mechanical systems.

  • Ability to write and repair logic programming (experience with RSLogic a plus).

  • Ability to understand and trouble shoot using Human Mechanical Interface (HMI) applications.

  • Proficiency in Allen Bradley PLCs, VFDs, HMIs, and Networks (DeviceNet, ControlNet, Remote IO, Data Highway Plus, and Ethernet).

  • Experience with various Human Machine Interfaces

  • Adaptability – Ability to adapt to change in the workplace.

Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 2 years of working experience in industrial environments

  • High School Diploma or BS in Engineering preferred.

  • Prior warehouse/production/equipment service experience preferred.

  • Microsoft Office proficiency including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

  • Familiarity with manufacturing systems

  • Forklift certification is a plus

  • Continuing education to maintain any certifications held and a current working knowledge of new technologies related to our business.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Work environment; must be able to work standing for long periods of time.

  • Maintenance work involves but is not limited to, heights, confined space, and outdoors.

  • Must be able to lift 75 lbs.

  • Work involves walking, talking and hearing, using hands to handle, feel or operate objects. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to focus when working on small components.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE)

  • Hearing protection dependent on specified areas.

  • Face shield and gloves mandatory while filling both propane and CO2.

  • Hair nets if working on open container end of the lines.

  • Safety glasses

  • Welding hood and other welding related protective gear

  • Fall protection

  • Steel/ceramic toed shoes with slip resistant sole.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • The noise level in the work environment can be moderately noisy due to manufacturing and/or warehousing equipment in operation.

  • Some areas are slippery due to the production process.

  • Warehouse area has heavy forklift traffic.
