Intermountain Health Public Safety Dispatcher in Billings, Montana
Job Description:
Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, provides a safe and secure environment for all persons on premises by providing security related communication, documentation, and security systems monitoring along with security officer dispatch services.
Scope
· Promotes mission, vision, and values of SCL Health, and abides by service behavior standards.
· Communicates and dispatches Security Officers to needed locations, monitors radio activity, and works with hospital operator to dispatch security personnel to the appropriate locations.
· Maintains awareness of environment and observes potential security risks, reports activity which poses a safety hazard to persons and/or property to appropriate personnel.
· Assists patients, guest and staff by providing general information. Assists with access control by checking badges and passes and identification of persons entering the hospital. Checks packages being brought into or removed from hospital buildings and grounds.
· Performs public service duties as needed (i.e., escorts patients, guests, or employees; assists persons locked out of vehicles or rooms; opens or locks doors; provides battery boosts).
· Performs parking and exterior campus rounds to identify safety hazards and parking violations, prepares reports documenting all parking violations, safety hazards, repair requests, and the like.
· Monitors security and fire equipment, such as alarms, surveillance video, and the like.
· Acts as a system administrator for the facility access control system adding, changing, or removing access as needed. Initiating lock down procedures when required.
· Answers telephones and provides information to public and hospital staff as needed.
· Assists in the intake and the release of bodies from morgue.
· Maintain lost and found property and valuables registry within the hospital.
· Perform interior and exterior door and safety rounds assessing for vulnerabilities or safety concerns on campus.
· Performs roof clearance assessment prior to helicopter arrival.
· Maintain knowledge of safety and emergency preparedness plans and response.
· May be required to float to other departments (within scope of competency and qualifications) based on business need.
· May be required to be placed on-call during a regularly scheduled shift.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
Required
· High school diploma or equivalent
· Valid MT Driver’s License (or ability to obtain MT DL within 3 months of hire), proof of Insurability
· BLS certification
Preferred
· Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, security administration or related area with participation in security or law enforcement through an internship or volunteer work such as police reserve program.
· Experience in hospital security dispatch and/or public law enforcement dispatch.

Verbal and written communication skills to compose complete, coherent, and concise reports.

Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically within a multi-functional team in a fast-paced environment.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Understanding of basic computer programs including Word, Excel, and Power Point.
Regular attendance to perform work on site during regularly scheduled business hours or scheduled shifts is required
Ability to work nights and/or weekends is required for identified positions
Ability to successful function in a fast paced, service-oriented environment.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.
$17.85 - $24.26
