HDR Engineering is looking for a Transmission Planning Engineer (Project Engineer) to join our growing and nationally ranked team of Power Delivery professionals.

Primary Responsiblities

Responsible for conducting detailed powerflow and stability studies for a variety of clients throughout the US using the PSS/E, PSLF, and/or PowerWorld software and programming tools.

Lead QA/QC and mentor existing system planning staff to perform larger scale system impact and interconnection studies.

Conduct powerflow, stability, and short circuit studies to ensure compliance with NERC, RRO, and Utility Planning and Operating Standards.

Manage analytical tools such as PSS/E, PSLF, and PowerWorld for system analysis, generation interconnection, and transmission service and transmission expansion processes to meet regulatory guidelines.

Projects are throughout the US and there is an expectation to travel and lead project efforts.

Required Qualifications

Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering required. Masters Degree preferred.

P.E. is preferred (if you can find one, great, but not required).

9+ years in transmission system planning required.

Knowledge in transmission planning design and power system analysis including computer applications.

Experience with PSS/E and Python software is required. Experience with PSLF and PowerWorld is preferred.

Previous work experience in a senior technical and/or leadership role either with a utility or consulting engineering firm is preferred.

Ability to communicate clearly with clients in oral and written form to obtain information and to convey project results

Ability to travel as needed.
