Sleep Lab Coordinator

Employment Status: Full-Time (.75 or greater)
Hours per Pay Period: 1.00 = 80 hours every two weeks (Exempt)
Starting Wage DOE: $33.66 - 42.07
Coordinates the day to day functions of the Pulmonary Center’s Sleep Disorders Center. Sets-up and monitors sleep disorder tests. Scores and evaluates polysomnograms and more complex studies. Assists in training of other Sleep Disorders Center staff. Assures Sleep Disorders Center quality and staff competency. Performs routine maintenance of sleep lab equipment. Acts as primary contact in providing physicians, patients, Outreach accounts and public with education, diagnostic information and consultation regarding all aspects of sleep disorders. Assists in establishing and maintaining Outreach Sleep lab affiliations.
Essential Job Functions
• Supports and models behaviors consistent with the mission and philosophy of DBC and department/service.
• Coordinates the day to day functions of the Sleep Disorders Center. Directs, guides and instructs Sleep Disorders staff and assists hospital staff who provide care to Sleep Disorders patients. Supervises staff to include training/education, performance appraisals and competency reviews, coaching, counseling and disciplinary processes.
• Performs a variety of standard protocols for sleep disorder testing. Includes setting up and monitoring the patient over a six to eight hour period.
• Performs more complex studies including MSLT’s.
• Cross trained to assist with EEG, evoked potential testing and routine respiratory care.
• Trains other Sleep Disorders staff in testing techniques and scoring competency.
• Scores and evaluates polysomnograms.
• Inputs test data, generates and distributes reports to referring physicians and facilities. Completes reports necessary for certifications of medical necessity and insurance reimbursement.
• Assures test scoring, interpretation and reporting meet turn around time standards.
• Assures standards for ASDA accreditation and quality assurance standards are met.
• Consults with physicians, Outreach accounts, home care companies and patients regarding diagnosis, treatment and outcome of patients with sleep disorders.
• Monitors and assists in maintaining sleep lab equipment.
• Researches and provides diagnostic information for rare types of sleep disorders.
• Orders daily supplies for Sleep Disorders Center.
• Assists in development of new markets including Outreach Sleep Lab affiliations.
• Provides education and in servicing for physicians, patients, Outreach accounts and groups or individuals interested in Sleep disorders.
• Maintains competency in all organizational, departmental and outside agency safety standards relevant to job performance.
• Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
•Graduate of an approved course for Polysomnographic Technologists
Experience
• Minimum twenty-four months experience in sleep disorder testing
• Twelve months supervisory experience preferred
Certifications and Licenses
•Certified by the NBRC, registry, preferred
•Healthcare Provider CPR certification, at hire
