Surgical Technologist - Surgery Center SURGERY CENTER (BILLINGS CLINIC SURGERY CENTER) req8948Shift: DayEmployment Status: Per Diem Hours per Pay Period: 0.01 = per diem (Non-Exempt) Starting Wage DOE: $25.12 - $31.40Assists in the care of the surgical patient by performing the scrubbing role of handling instruments, equipment and supplies. The Surgical Technologist has an understanding of the procedure being performed, anticipates the needs of the surgeon, maintains a sterile field and is responsible pre- and post-operatively for technical components of surgery.Essential Job Functions* Anticipates, plans for and responds to the needs of the surgeon and other members of the team by constantly monitoring the sterile field. * Demonstrates proper handling of instruments and equipment. * Identifies potential intraoperative complications and responds appropriately to identified needs. * Assists team in maintaining adequate inventory of equipment, supplies and instruments. * Utilizes performance improvement principles to assess and improve quality of patient care. * Identifies needs and sets goals for own personal growth and development. Meets all system and departmental educational requirements. * Maintains competency in all organizational, departmental and outside agency environmental, employee or patient safety standards relevant to job performance. * Supports and models behaviors consistent with Billings Clinic's mission, vision, values, code of business conduct and service expectations. Meets all mandatory organizational and departmental requirements. Maintains competency in all organizational, departmental and outside agency standards as it relates to the environment, employee, patient safety or job performance.* Performs all other duties as assigned or as needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.Minimum QualificationsEducation* Graduate from an accredited surgical technology program or equivalentExperience* Demonstrates knowledge and practice of basic patient care concepts * Demonstrates the application of the principles of asepsis in a knowledgeable manner that provides for optimal patient care in the OR * Demonstrates basic surgical case preparation skills * Demonstrates the ability to perform the role of first scrub on basic surgical cases * Safe pharmaceutical handling requirements and guidelines * Analytical and critical thinking skills necessary to understand a variety of basic and/or routine problem scenarios associated with patient care * Interpersonal skills which enable the incumbent to appropriately respond to a variety of patient/family requests and inquiries, to respond to inquiries from physicians, nursing staff and other healTo view the full job description, click here>
