NORTHWESTERN ENERGY Telecom Technician in BILLINGS, Montana

QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:

  • Associate or technical college degree in an electronics-related field, or, related military or industrial experience, or, two years of related experience in the telecommunication technician field
  • Valid Drivers License and satisfactory driving record
  • First Aid/CPR Certification Knowledge of applicable codes and safety
  • Commitment to safe working practices and knowledge of safety policies/procedures
  • Ability to demonstrate and maintain a good safety record
  • Ability to work overtime including evening and weekend shifts in response to acute service needs
  • Ability to work as a team member to install, maintain, or repair telecom systems
  • Ability to lift and manipulate needed equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to pass an employment physical, a drug test and a background check
  • Commercial Drivers License preferred or the ability to obtain

DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Install and maintain microwave circuits and equipment
  • Climb towers to install microwave or other equipment
  • Provide fiber optic support including maintaining fiber optic cable and the electronic equipment attached to it
  • Provide support for 2-way radio use including maintaining handheld units and installing and maintaining units at tower sites and trucks
  • Maintain the master controller for the radio system
  • Install and maintain power-line carrier equipment
  • Troubleshoot and remediate system outages
  • Interface with outside entities
  • Communicate verbally and understand audible signals in emergency/safety situations
  • Complete required paper and computer work
  • Use a variety of testing equipment, tools, computers, and software programs to analyze systems and circuits, to communicate, and to document service
  • Respond to emergency situations
  • Drive to installation locations
  • Operate UTV / ATV / Snowcat vehicles
  • Adapt to technological changes as they are implemented
  • Interact with the public as needed
  • Organize equipment and perform regular and preventative maintenance
  • Adhere to company safety standards and the Code of Business Conduct & Ethics
  • Ensure all actions are consistent with NorthWestern Energy's values, mission, and strategic business objectives

Full-time position.

$33.59 - $55.82 per hour, depending on experience.
