BILLINGS SCHOOL DISTRICT 2 TRANSPORTATION COORDINATOR in BILLINGS, Montana

Billings School District 2 is recruiting for a Transportation Coordinator to develop and maintain computerized optimal routing solutions and schedules following established guidelines. The "ideal" candidate for this role will be detail-oriented, organized, and self-motivated. To excel in this role, you must have the ability to streamline processes by working collaboratively with other department stakeholders, maintain a strong system of communication, and work as a team with other transportation staff members. The ability to build strong relationships with all departments within the district is essential. Typical Duties: - Use routing software to develop and maintain a computerized database of school bus routing and scheduling information. - Update and maintain a student database to generate schedules, stops, runs, and routes information. - Review and revise regular and special education student bus routes and schedules. - Maintain optimal efficiency of operation and use of buses and drivers. - Support the Transportation Director by creating and evaluating routing and scheduling options. - Provide information and assistance to staff, schools and the public on routing issues. - Assist with the evaluation and resolution of complaints and issues. - Assist in compiling and submitting accurate records to OPI. - Assist in organizing and scheduling schools and buses for special early out days, field trips, evacuations, and other special events. Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in relevant field of study such as transportation systems and operations, business or public administration preferred. - Minimum of 3 years' successful work experience within Transportation and Logistics Management or similarly related field. - Knowledge of transportation laws, district policies and procedures, Office of Public Instruction rules and regulations. - Knowledge of Computers and Electronics. - Intermediate working knowledge and skill in operating technology/computer-based work programs/software commonly used within professional settings. - Billings Public Schools policy and procedures, and confidentiality requirements. - Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills. - Critical Thinking ability, Sound Professional Judgment and Sound Decision Making. - Able to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. - Excellent organizational skills as well as the ability to prioritize tasks. - Ability to act with integrity and professionalism. - Proficient in computer programs (Microsoft and Google) and ability to learn new software applications. Schedule: 12-month; 8 hours per day; Monday - Friday; 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Salary: $67,493.00 per year. Equal Opportunity Employer.
