* Position is located in Billings, MTThe VMI Technician will be responsible for implementing and maintaining the client's supply inventory to include deliveries and management programs, establishing safe handling practices, manage, efficient order processing & invoicing, initiating & executing cost reduction programs, reporting and day-to-day customer interface at the client location. The VMI Technician will be the first line Airgas representative with the customer for all consumables and safety supplies related issues.In addition, the individual in this role serves as the relief driver for the branch, covering routes when other drivers are on vacation, out sick or as needed throughout the week. This may also require an occasional overnight stay.
In particular you will:
Delivery and replenishment to customers of various industrial products and vending machine or storeroom items.
Performs basic troubleshooting and repairs mechanical vending systems as needed.
Reviews manual stock levels of various inventories at multiple plant departments for reorder.
Maintains dedicated branch inventory levels for proper replenishment.
Tracks and turns in delivery tickets and consignment fill tickets.
Assist warehouse or production facility as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
High School Diploma or GED Required.
Associates or Bachelor's degree in Business, Welding Technology or Sales preferred.
Minimum 2 years of experience in product distribution or inventory management.
Experience with welding and safety products or related industrial products a plus.
Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
Demonstrated knowledge of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Effective verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
Self-starter; self-motivated; operates with a sense of urgency; ability to work independently and under pressure to meet deadlines.
Ability to operate a forklift.
Demonstrated planning skills and outstanding personal relationship skills.
Demonstrates a clear and effective speaking manner for the purpose of explaining information to customers and employees.
Strong problem-solver, with a high level of attention to detail.
Comfortable interacting with a wide variety of people with different personalities and backgrounds within Airgas and outside the Company.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Employee will frequently be required to transverse through manufacturing and/or locations.
Employee will frequently be required to actively listen and exchange information.
Employee will be required to observe and assess equipment and information received via computer.
Requires frequent use of a computer, telephone and operation of a motor vehicle.
Able to detect leaking gas from cylinders.
Regularly required to position self to equipment and ascend/descend.
Regularly required to move up to 60 pounds and transport up to 125 pounds with the aid of material handling equipment.
Requires both indoor & outdoor environments) in various seasonal weather conditions.
Job requires visitation to various Airgas and customer sites, which have varying environments/conditions, layouts, and accessibility. Environment may contain loud noises and/or odors that may last for an extended period of time or on a continual basis.
Pay Range: $25-28/hr.
As an Airgas Driver:
Must have a valid MT Commercial Driver's License with Hazmat and Airbrake endorsements (hazmat can be obtained after offer)
Must have one (1) year of prior Class A or B professional driving experience within the last five (5) years and a clean driving record to include no more than two (2) convictions, OR two (2) at-fault accidents in the last three years; OR no more than a combination of one (1) conviction and one (1) at-fault accident in the last three years.
In lieu of experience, may consider accepting a diploma from an accredited driving school and a minimum of one (1) year of prior driving experience within the last five (5) years
