Summary
DOWL is seeking an enthusiastic Water Resources Designer to join our Water Supply and Wastewater group. DOWL’s team of Water Resource Engineers provides a wide range of services including water supply development, design of water distribution systems, storage tanks, pump stations, sanitary sewer collection systems and lift stations, and water and wastewater treatment systems Our projects and clients span the western United States from Alaska to Arizona and from Montana to Washington. The position will involve a wide range of responsibilities and work assignments, including both office and field work.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
Assist with the planning and design of a variety of water resources projects.
Conduct field investigations, analysis of alternative solutions, cost estimating, technical report writing, final design, and construction inspection.
Perform or assist with the planning, evaluation and design of water supply distribution networks, storage tanks, pump stations, sanitary sewer collection systems and lift stations, water and wastewater treatment plants and other related projects.
Perform construction inspection and administration and surveying support as necessary.
Travel locally and out of state to project sites for meetings or field work.
Consistently exercise discretion and judgment in all work tasks.
Provide professional written and verbal communication with project partners and clients
Conduct all activities consistent with health and safety in mind.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
Candidates should possess a B.S. degree from an ABET accredited civil engineering or related program and no previous experience required.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering exam, required.
Successful certification as an Engineer Intern or Engineer In Training or the ability to receive the certification within 6 months of hire, required.
Must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical analysis, and fundamentals of geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret scientific and technical journals. Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from clients, co-workers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to clients, co-workers, and the public. He/she must also have excellent writing skills and be able to communicate effectively with large and diverse groups.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables.
Willingness and ability to travel to project sites.
Must be able to use Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and Project software.
Familiarity with design and analysis tools including AutoCAD Civil 3D, AutoCAD Plant 3D, ArcGIS, Innovyze/WaterCAD modeling, Innovyze/SewerCAD sewer modeling
