St. John's Lutheran Ministries Weekend Resource Nurse - RN in Billings, Montana

$4,000 Sign On Bonus for Full-Time/$2,000 Sign On Bonus for Part-Time! Must have at least 1-year patient care experience and being willing to get CNA Certified. Offering Differentials! Evening Diff: 5pm – 11pm $2.00 per hour Night Diff: 11pm – 6am $3.00 per hour Weekend Diff: 2pm Friday through Sunday at 11:59pm $1.50 per hour Part of the Nursing Administration Team - Saturday/Sunday 6am - 6pm plus on-call duties! SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the VP of Health Services this position provides quality, professional, nursing care and medical oversight to St. John’s Residents. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION: Nursing: Oversees the care of all elders in assigned areas Assesses elders and administer nursing treatments. Works closely with physicians to determine appropriate care Responds to and leads emergency situations Completes medical records on elders Performs record keeping according to policies developed by St. John’s Lutheran Ministries in accordance with State and Federal Regulations Assists staff when necessary Promotes the Elder’s well-being and satisfaction by supporting elder-centered care while working as a member of the Clinical Support Team. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION: Leadership: Supervises staff in assigned areas Coach, educate, evaluate and discipline assigned employees Develop referral and support relationships with Elders of all care levels Facilitates appropriate staffing levels and schedule Participate in community activities such as serving meals to residents to form relationships with staff and residents and ease burden of front line staff Assists with the processes development and Quality Improvement ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION: Communication/Reporting: Participates in and receives the nursing report on assigned shifts Maintains the confidentiality of all Elder care information according to the St. John’s Policy on confidentially and Elders Rights ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION: Dining Services: Assists in the meal time process, serving coffee, greeting residents, guests, family members Performs other duties as necessary to ensure a pleasant atmosphere and timely mealtime for all ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION: Safety: Obeys safety rules of St. John’s United Identifies, reports, and/or corrects obvious safety hazards Attends Mandatory safety in-services Utilizes proper body mechanics when transferring Elders Follows established policies and procedures when exposed to blood/body fluids Wears and/or uses safety equipment and supplies (i.e. gait belts, mechanical lifts, personal; protective equipment) ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION: Mission/Customer Service: Supports the growth and actively engages in the Eden Alternative philosophy, including a work environment with plants and animals. Follows policy and procedures on annual influenza vaccinations. Attends all mandatory in-services Attends and participates in scheduled training and educational classes to maintain license in accord with the State of Montana Performs other duties as assigned Signs and follows contract according to St. John’s Lutheran Ministries Baylor Plan Expectations. REQUIREMENTS: Minimum Requirements: Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Montana. 2-5 years nursing experience desired, with previous supervisory experience desired. Knowledge, skills, and abilities required: Knowledge and skills acquired through completion of a state certified Registered Nurse Program Skills in observation of human behaviors or changes of condition Ability to understand and express written and verbal communication. Ability to interact effectively and professionally with Elders, family members, coworkers and other clinical support staff Ability to work independently and in a team Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects Ability to understand and follow safety policies and procedures Ability to use various health care supplies and equipment, including blood pressure devices, thermometers, wheelchairs, lifts, and oxygen suppliers, etc. Ability to understand and to contribute to Elder charts and care plans Ability to relate to and work with the ill, elderly, disabled, emotionally upset, and at times, combative people within the facility Ability to respond to Elder needs in a timely and professional manner, recognizing the Elder’s rights Ability to deal with stressful situations (i.e. Death and Dying)
