Job Title: Worship Leader
FLSA Status: Part Time - non-exempt Reports to: Corps Officers
Supervises: N/A
Schedule: TBD, around 5 hours per week
Rate of Pay : $16-21/hour
Closing Date: 2/6/24
Benefits : Standard; Part-Time, Non-Exempt employees are eligible for but not limited to the following:
Sick leave benefit – 1 day per month, 12 sick days per year (accrual and availability begins at hire; sick time accrual is pro-rated for part-time hours.)
Vacation benefit – 10 vacation days per year, accrued at the rate of .0385 hours for each hour worked, excluding overtime (accrual begins at hire but may not be used until the completion of six months of employment; vacation accrual is pro-rated for part time hours.)
Pension Plan (after one year of continuous service)
Scope of Position/Essential Functions:
He/she will work in close cooperation with the Corps Officer(s) and other Corps leaders and staff to support the total ministry of The Salvation Army both in the Corps and the local community, and will assist in the overall ministry and music services offered through The Salvation Army, to its congregation and soldiers.
He/she shall be responsible for the development and promotion of the worship and music programs associated with the Corps. Keeping in mind The Salvation Army’s ultimate goal is the salvation of all people; this therefore necessitates that he/she place great emphasis on people consistent with that goal.
Education and Work Experience: Previous experience leading worship services is required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: We are looking for someone with the ability to engage others in being part of worship and developing music programs within our community.
Key & Specific Responsibilities:
Plan and lead weekly worship services and special events
Select appropriate music for each service
Lead the congregation in worship through song, prayer, and Scripture reading.
Ensure that the services remain engaging and spiritually inspiring
Develop and maintain healthy relationships with members of the congregation
Work with the church staff to ensure that all services are properly planned and executed
Manage the worship team and coordinate rehearsals
Musical Programs – Youth and Adult
Vocal and instrumental instruction and performance of prescribed Salvation Army music. Including Worship Band, Songsters, Singing Company, Junior Band, and Creative Arts Ministries.
Additional Responsibilities
Assist with music items within Seasonal Activities
All other duties assigned by the commanding officer as related to the position.
