NORTHWESTERN ENERGY Electric Operations Supervisor in BLACK EAGLE, Montana

QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:

Criteria for hiring Entry to Mid-Level:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft office and ability to learn and effectively use proprietary software
  • Ability to demonstrate and maintain a good safety record
  • First Aid/CPR Certification or ability to acquire
  • Valid drivers license and satisfactory driving record
  • Ability to work on-call rotation schedules, evenings, weekends, and in response to acute service needs
  • Ability to perform constant sitting, frequent standing and walking, occasional lifting up to 35 pounds
  • Ability to pass an employment physical, drug test and background check
  • Post-Secondary education/degree or experienced certified journeyman lineman preferred
  • Working knowledge in electric utility (transmission, distribution, and substation) business and construction methodologies preferred
  • Supervisory/leadership experience a plus
  • Strong business acumen desired

Criteria for hiring and/or promotion to Upper Level:

  • All of the above plus,
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or, Bachelor's degree in a Non-Engineering field or Journeyman lineman qualifications with relevant work experience and knowledge may be considered subject to review and approval by upper management
  • Strong leadership skills including interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to lead and develop a department and department staff members

DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Demonstrate leadership consistent with NorthWestern Energy's code, values, policies, processes and controls
  • Utilize management practices to maintain employee engagement and productivity
  • Effectively manage budgets, ensuring proper cost controls
  • Lead special projects and utilize change and project management techniques as required
  • Supervise electric utility crews, contract crews, and service crews in the division service territory
  • Support division small town personnel
  • Ensure work is completed in compliance with all appropriate laws, rules, and regulations
  • Provide instruction in and ensure compliance with proper work methods, construction standards, and safety procedures
  • Schedule daily and long-term crew assignments to ensure production goals are met
  • Brief direct reports and develop service packets as needed
  • Participate in the development of annual budgets
  • Develop and participate in all aspects of hiring, performance appraisals, safety accountability checks, and process claims reports
  • Stand in for the Supervisor of Gas Operations and Supervisor of Operations Planning as needed
  • Work effectively with customers and the general public
  • Develop and maintain strong interpersonal relationships with peers, co-workers, and other internal and external customers
  • Extensive daily computer usage
  • Adhere to company safety standards and the Code of Business Conduct & Ethics
  • Ensure all actions are consistent with NorthWestern Energy's values, mission, and strategic business objectives

Full-time position.

$79,300 - $121,200 annually. Benefits include: 401K with company match up to 4% and non-elective contribution up to 7%; healthcare and wellbeing programs, including dental and vision; Health Savings Account (HSA); healthcare and dependent care flexible spending account (FSA); Employee Assistance Programs; Life Insurance; paid time off starting on your first day, plus 11 paid holidays.
