Benefits & Compensation Intern
Butte or Sioux Falls location preferred; will consider other major office locations in Montana - Billings, Bozeman, Great Falls, Helena or Missoula
QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:
- Must have completed Sophomore level or higher by start date
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Pro-active, and strive to go above and beyond what is required
- Ability to prioritize well and tackle challenges enthusiastically
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Self-starter accountable for completing work as assigned with an adequate level of feedback from NorthWestern Energy staff
- Ability to demonstrate and maintain a good safety record
- Proficient in Microsoft Office - Excel, Word, and Access
- Must be in good academic standing
- Ability to pass a drug test, and background check
- Prefer students working towards a Business, Marketing, Information Technology, Accounting, or Analytics Degree but are open to others with a relevant skillset
- Process mapping experience preferred (academic experience included)
DUTIES INCLUDE:
- Review documentation, gather data, and conduct interviews to understand process requirements to convert to a process map
- Help brainstorm ideas to improve efficiency by identifying process bottlenecks, repetition, error contributors and delays
- Organize and facilitate process walkthrough
- Perform some employee and retiree data maintenance to better understand process requirements
- Analyze business goals, objectives, and needs
- Help plan and design business processes and make recommendations for improvement
- Perform research and analysis in support of operations
- Assist in resolving business issues using systems and data
- Estimate costs and benefits of multiple actions and/or solutions and provide recommendations
- Accountable for work assigned and completing each assigned task on time or ahead of schedule
- Participate in organizational work meetings
- Adhere to company safety standards and the Code of Business Conduct & Ethics
- Ensure all actions are consistent with NorthWestern Energy's values, mission, and strategic business objectives
Temporary position; full-time from May - August, part-time from September - December.
$18.00 per hour for first year interns, $19.00 per hour for returning interns.
