The working hours for this position are M-Th from 7:45am-4:45pm and Fridays from 7:45am-noon.

SALARY: According to SCC Salary Scale, depending on experience and education - Fringe Benefits WAGE:

-Bachelor's degree with 0 years of experience = $19.46/hr

-Bachelor's degree with 10 years of experience = $23.73/hr

-Master's degree with 0 years of experience = $21.41/hr

-Master's degree with 10 years of experience = $26.10/hr

JOB SUMMARY:

Stone Child College is seeking a dedicated and dynamic individual to join our team as a Retention Officer. The Retention Officer will play a crucial role in supporting student success by managing the Early Alert System within the EMPOWER Student Information System and implementing strategies to enhance student retention. This position reports directly to the Dean of Student Services and requires a proactive approach to student engagement and support.

JOB DUTIES:

• Manage Early Alert System: Utilize the EMPOWER Student Information System to monitor student progress and identify at-risk students. Coordinate with faculty and staff to ensure timely and appropriate interventions are implemented to support students in need. • Track Student Data: Maintain accurate records of student contacts, interventions, and outcomes. Compile and analyze data related to student retention efforts to inform decision-making and program effectiveness. • Retention Activities: Develop and implement retention initiatives and activities aimed at promoting student engagement, persistence, and success. Collaborate with campus departments to coordinate workshops, events, and programs that address the diverse needs of students. • Student Support: Provide individualized support and guidance to students experiencing academic, personal, or financial challenges. Serve as a resource for students seeking assistance with navigating college policies, procedures, and resources. • Collaboration: Collaborate with faculty, staff, and administrators to foster a campus culture that prioritizes student success and retention. Participate in retention-related committees, task forces, and initiatives to contribute to institutional goals. Work closely with the Student Success Tutor to ensure students are participating in academic support activities. • Reporting: Prepare regular reports on student retention efforts, outcomes, and trends for the Dean of Student Services and other stakeholders. Present findings and recommendations for improvement as needed. • Professional Development: Stay informed about best practices and trends in student retention and success. Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills related to student support and retention strategies. • Strategic Planning: Chair the Retention Committee and guide the committee to carry out goals, objectives, initiatives, and activities that support the Strategic Plan and student success.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field required; Master's degree preferred. • Experience working in higher education, particularly in student retention, advising, or counseling. • Familiarity with student information systems and data management tools, preferably EMPOWER Student Information System. • Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills. • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and support a student-centered approach to retention. • Commitment to promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of student support, advocacy and programming. 

Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Office products.
