Position Details

General Statement

Shared Services staff perform a wide variety of business processes such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, financial reporting, reconciliations, budgeting, payroll changes, and revenue and expense monitoring for client departments. This position also collaborates closely with central accounting, budget, payroll and sponsored programs offices.

The Accounting Analyst will report to the Fiscal Shared Services Team Lead and will be responsible for supporting multiple departments.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform fiscal transactions and assist in managing diverse and significant funds across multiple departments.

  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable for diverse set of clients.

  • Generate monthly financial reports and perform ad hoc research and analyses in response to manager or client department requests.

  • Collaborate with budget analysts and client department staff to create and monitor annual budgets.

  • Verify operating and payroll transactions and expense in comparison with budget and projections

  • Support departments in ensuring compliance with accounting, expenditure, budgeting and other requirements.

Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

  • Progressively responsible accounting or bookkeeping experience with budgeting, analysis, reconciliations, reporting and/or processing accounts payable/receivable transactions.

  • Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Excel to analyze and summarize data.

  • Demonstrated customer (internal or external) support experience.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or closely related field or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

  • Experience analyzing financial results to assist managers with business decisions.

  • Experience developing annual financial budgets for a department or larger organization.

  • Advanced knowledge and experience with Microsoft Excel (e.g., parsing, pivot tables, macros, database)

  • Familiarity with compensation processes in a complex environment.
