Brief Position Overview
The Jake Jabs College of Business and Entrepreneurship offers a Bachelor of Science in Business, with a concentration in accounting degree. To accomplish our mission, a significant portion of our teaching faculty should have professional experience in practicing accounting. We seek experienced accounting professionals with the ability to teach in more than one accounting area, including tax, data analytics, cost/managerial accounting, governmental/nonprofit accounting, financial accounting, and auditing.

General Statement
Montana State University invites experienced accounting professionals to the Jake Jabs College of Business and Entrepreneurship faculty as Instructors, delivering high-quality instruction at the undergraduate and graduate levels. We seek dedicated professionals who are passionate about teaching and mentoring students, possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, and can collaborate effectively with faculty and staff. The ideal candidate will contribute to student success and academic excellence while supporting the mission of Montana State University through engaging, real-world accounting education.

Appointments are on a full- or part-time basis and may vary in duration depending on the specific needs of the program. Salary is dependent on number of courses taught and duration.
Duties and Responsibilities
Teach undergraduate and/or graduate accounting courses in on-campus and/or online formats, ensuring high-quality, engaging instruction.
Incorporate real-world applications and experiential learning to enhance student understanding of accounting principles and practices.
Stay current with industry trends, professional standards, and advancements in accounting education to maintain course relevance.
Foster a welcoming and supportive learning environment.
Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Master’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and mentor students from all backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Relevant accounting certification ( CPA , CMA , CIA , CFE , etc.) or Ph.D. in Accounting or a related field.
Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in accounting.
Strong knowledge of current industry trends and practices in areas such as tax, data analytics, cost/managerial accounting, governmental/nonprofit accounting, financial accounting, and auditing.
Commitment to experiential learning, incorporating real-world applications, case studies, and industry partnerships into teaching.

Non-Tenure Track Faculty – Any position that is .5 FTE or more is represented by the Associated Faculty of Montana State University ( AFMSU ). Faculty covered by AFMSU must begin paying either membership dues or representation fees within thirty (30) days of hire. This is a condition of employment. Any position less than .5 FTE is not represented by the Union and is not required to pay dues.
