General Statement
Culinary Services Division (http://www.montana.edu/culinaryservices/) ( CSD ), a division of Auxiliary Services, provides meals and specialty beverages for over 18,000 customers daily and is an integral part of campus life and the overall college experience. CSD proudly provides Montana State University students with not only a repertoire of various cuisines, cooking styles, and flavors, but a comfortable atmosphere to meet friends, study, and simply relax. The division is comprised of 2 residential dining halls, a commissary kitchen, 4 coffee shops and the Strand Union retail operations, Brick Breeden Fieldhouse and Bobcat Stadium Concessions, Fork in the Road food truck, MSU Catering, Indulge In-House Bakery, and the Farm to Campus Program.
Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Chick-fil-A Operations Manager, the Assistant Manager oversees franchise production, mobile and in-person ordering fulfillment, and all service areas.
Maintains an efficiently run, large volume/high activity operation.
Ensures excellent customer service.
Provides active supervision and training of student staff and full time staff as needed.
Ensures staffing levels are appropriate and duties are being completed for each shift.
Actively works in all areas as needed in preparation and service of product, and to maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the operation
Supervises operation’s cash register system and reconciling of cash bags. Troubleshoots equipment as needed.
As requested by the operations manager, performs a variety of administrative, payroll, and inventory duties.
Ensures the operation meets or exceeds department’s expectations for health codes.
Ensures that appropriate signage is displayed and video boards are functioning.
Maintains facilities and equipment while communicating repair needs to upper management.
Maintains an understanding of the franchise and mobile ordering contracts in order to successfully maintain business.
Actively contributes to the team by performing other duties as needed in support of the department’s mission.
Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Progressively responsible management experience in the food industry or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
Experience providing excellent customer service.
Supervisory experience coordinating, directing, and evaluating the work of others.
Proficient experience using computers and various software applications.
Experience with cash handling and/or point of sales machines.
Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Experience operating in a franchise food unit.
Advanced degree or certification in the hospitality, culinary arts, or related field(s).
Experience ordering food and supplies.
Experience with inventory control.

Will work evenings, weekends, long hours, consecutive days during busy periods, and occasional holidays as the school and event schedule demands.
May occasionally work outside and in inclement weather assisting with special events.
Possess an 8 hour sanitation certification or have the ability to become certified.
