Duties and Responsibilities

The Department of Education at Montana State University-Bozeman (MSU) invites applications for the position of Assistant Teaching Professor of Education and Continuous Improvement Coordinator. This position will work closely with the Director of Accreditation and Operations and is responsible for the processes, data collection and analysis, and reporting requirements for state and national accreditation of teacher preparation programs. The person in this position will be initially provided with three one year contracts (LOA) with the chance of reappointment contingent upon successful performance.

We seek a qualified individual who can successfully perform the following responsibilities:

Process Management

  • Under the direction of the Director of Accreditation and Operations, oversee large-scale accreditation and assessment processes and reporting for Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) and the Montana Board of Public Education (BPE) accreditation, US Department of Education (USDOE) Title II reporting, and other compliance requirements, including writing of annual and summary reports and validation of unit-wide assessment tools.

  • Coordinate data collection, reporting, and processes with accreditation and compliance bodies including CAEP/BPE and the USDOE.

  • Evaluate and implement procedures, and practices for accomplishing program and Department goals for successful accreditation.

  • Maintain relationships to promote and develop the program mission, implementation and strategies related to accreditation.

  • Oversee process of gathering stakeholder input and feedback on program experiences required for accreditation reporting, with a particular focus on diversity and equity.

  • Oversee data tracking management and software selection in conjunction with the Assessment Coordinator.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, rules, regulations, and policy, including communication and integration of changing requirements.

Instructional Faculty

  • Teach and/or supervise field experiences in the Teacher Preparation Program (undergraduate and/or Master of Arts in Teaching)

Service/Outreach

  • Provide meaningful service and/or outreach to the department, college, university and/or profession

    Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

  • Graduate degree in related field.

  • Proven record of accomplishment in project management.

  • Demonstrated commitment to enhancing diversity and social justice.

  • Demonstrated exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

  • Demonstrated experience working in a higher education system.

  • Proven ability to work strategically on complex projects.

    Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

  • Experience working with teacher education candidates.

  • K-12 teaching and/or K-12 administrative experience.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of accreditation requirements for teacher education

  • Promote the advancement of diversity. OR Demonstrated commitment to student, faculty, and staff diversity.

  • Non-Tenure Track Faculty – Any position that is .5 FTE or more is represented by the Associated Faculty of Montana State University (AFMSU). Faculty covered by AFMSU must begin paying either membership dues or representation fees within thirty (30) days of hire. This is a condition of employment.   • Any position less than .5 FTE is not represented by the Union and is not required to pay dues.
