Find out more at: https://bozemanchamber.com/ * * _Job Duties_ This position serves as a Civil Engineering Technician and is responsible for: applying various inspection, sampling, and testing procedures to verify that construction project features and materials conform with standard specifications. Duties include performing laboratory testing, collecting samples of a variety of materials, perform testing and determining procedures to follow based on the type of material sampled. Prepares samples for testing based on the type of material and procedures outlined in the manual. Conducts a wide variety of specialized testing procedures on materials to specifications at preconstruction and construction sites; sets up trailer and other site equipment, maintains and repairs equipment to ensure safety, accurate results, proper operation, cost containment and extended life. Performs other related work as assigned. * * Position will involve significant physical demands related to repeated lifting of up to 80 pounds and carrying survey equipment over rough terrain. * * _To be considered for this position you must attach a resume and if applicable proof of professional licensure._ _CE Tech Level I and II Minimum Qualifications:_ * The required knowledge and skills are typically acquired through a combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma, including coursework in algebra, geometry or trigonometry. * The position prefers (LI) or requires (L2) aptitudes or experience in construction or related field (e.g., laboratory testing, transportation design, engineering, etc.), including experience in inspection, sampling, testing, and/or surveying. * * *Certifications, licensure, or other credentials include: N/A * * _CE Tech Level III Minimum Qualifications:_ * The required knowledge and skills are typically acquired through a combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma, including coursework in algebra, geometry, or trigonometry. * The position requires four (4) years of experience in highway construction or related field (e.g., laboratory testing, transportation design, engineering, etc.), including at least two (2) years in inspection, sampling, testing, and/or surveying. * Certifications, licensure, or other credentials include: N/A _Junior Engineering Coordinator Qualifications:_ * Civil Engineer or Civil Engineering Technician 4-year degree (C.E.T.) graduate that is a certified Engineer Intern or * An employee will be promoted to Junior Engineering Coordinator upon successful completion of the Jr. Coordinator advancement requirements. * * _Special Information:_ This position is covered under a Career Ladder Advancement Policy. Salary will be determined by education and experience. * * The position involves extensive overnight travel throughout the District more than 2,000 miles per month (often on short notice, weekends, and holidays) and working outdoors in all types of weather. * * * * The work environment involves harsh or caustic fumes, dust, extreme temperatures, wind, rain, and snow. Hazards associated with the work can be significant. Most of the work is performed at construction sites or fabrication plants involving traffic passing the project site and working around heavy machinery. * * A moving agreement will not be offered. * * A valid Montana driver’s license is required. Driver's record will be verified. Successful applicants will be required to sign a release form which authorizes the Department to obtain the applicant's permanent driving records.
