Position Details
General Statement
Faculty for this position will be hired as part of an industry initiative initiated to expand the curriculum of the Construction Engineering Technology program. Full-time tenure track appointments in the Department of Civil Engineering will have primary responsibilities in teaching and industry service. Research may also be included for qualified candidates. Successful candidates will become an integral member of the Department, with duties to include teaching courses in the curriculum, contributing to program and curriculum development, conducting construction related research and participating in professional/service activities. Founded in 1893 as a Land Grant University, Montana State University ( MSU ) is composed of eight academic colleges and a graduate school and boasts a friendly, supportive faculty and campus environment. Duties and Responsibilities
Contribute to construction engineering technology undergraduate instruction, mentoring, and advising.
Participate in professional/service/outreach activities.
Conduct research in construction related topics.
Contribute to the Department.
Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Bachelor’s and an advanced degree, in Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related field.
Significant industry experience in the broad area of civil construction.
Evidence of excellent oral and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Experience in the development of construction industry professionals.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with industry.
Demonstrated ability to work with and engage students and colleagues from all backgrounds within and outside the Construction Engineering Technology program.
The Successful Candidate Will
The Successful Candidate will be an effective communicator who has demonstrated:
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
The ability to inspire and mentor students.
The ability to develop and teach multiple courses in heavy civil construction and contribute to the construction engineering technology program.
Effective interpersonal skills including the ability to collaborate successfully with faculty, staff, and students.
