Oracle Consulting Technical Director in Bozeman, Montana

As an acknowledged authority within Oracle, this senior level consulting position is responsible for creating and implementing innovative solutions with industry-wide impact. Leads the solution design and implementation aspects of engagement(s) ensuring high quality, integrated solutions within constraints of time and budget.

Analyzes business needs to help ensure Oracle solution meets the customer s objectives by combining industry best practices, product knowledge, and business acumen. As a position of technical/professional influence, this individual frequently operates at the leading edge of technology. Recommends and justifies enhancements to Oracle products to meet very complex customer needs. Exercises creativity and independent judgment in developing methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria to deliver functional and technical expertise on a wide range of business and technology solutions. Leads experienced consulting teams on challenging projects; works on significant and unique issues. As a thought leader and trusted advisor, effectively influences difficult decisions at the leadership-level of customer organizations. Enables business development efforts by providing subject matter expertise. Resolves very complex customer escalations. Drives customer process direction and decisions by providing domain leadership within relevant industries on end-to-end enterprise solutions. Creates new solution sets based on assessment of industry needs, market demands and knowledge of competitive product offerings.

10 years of experience relevant to this position including 5 years of consulting experience. Management or team leadership experience preferred. Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience preferred. Product or technical expertise relevant to practice focus. Ability to lead large teams. Strong influencing and negotiation skills. Ability to travel as needed.

This is a remote/office based position which may be performed anywhere in the United States except for within the state of Colorado.

Position Description

  • Individual Contributor role (Consulting Technical Director) within United States Services organization, focused on providing functional solution leadership on UGBU integrated managed services engagements. Will work directly with client business sponsor and leads to ensure focus on solution integrity and completeness, leveraging best practice processes across the solution set, and scope management. Internally will coordinate across the various delivery architects to ensure cohesive, consistent solutions and deliverables. Current pipeline demand requires CC&B architect expertise, plus experience providing functional support on at least one additional Oracle Utilities framework based application.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CC&B lead architect experience on at least seven solution support engagements or seven implementation engagements or a combination of support and implementation.

  • Designer or architect experience on an additional OUAF based product, preferred CC&B, MDM or MWM

  • Previous multi product implementation experience preferred

  • Successful support experience including defect triage and new requirement design and implementation

  • Utility industry experience (working directly for a utility) a plus

  • Clear & timely communication internally, as well as externally with customers and partners

  • Partner with client business leadership to seek input from larger client organization and educate this community on key changes to current processes

  • Provide leadership and guidance in defining the overall solution landscape and strategy

  • Provide leadership to the implementation team by promoting consistency across the team, including methodology, deliverable templates, terminology, etc

  • Provide utilities industry best practice and multi-product Oracle solutions, through global engagements in Oracle Utilities implementations worldwide

  • Ability to mentor and develop junior and intermediate architects in meeting their customer obligations

  • Key contributor to overall definition and growth of our Integrated Managed Services offering

  • Key contributor to evaluating and growing our Solution Center leadership team

  • Knowledge sharing across peer group

  • Mentor/develop other delivery designers into solution architects

  • Participate in business development, including customer presentations and RFP responses related to Solution Center Lead role/function

Core

  • 20 years of utility experience, with at least 10 years as architect role.

  • Closely aligned with the Oracle Utilities product development, and support teams to ensure that end-to-end solution is aligned to best leverage Oracle roadmap

  • Overall oversight of and responsibility for the UIMS Solution Center at the customer including deployment of staff to meet the Solution Center scope.

  • Staff capacity planning for on-site and regional remote Solution Center personnel to meet anticipated needs within the defined staff plan.

  • Collaboration with offshore teams for offshore Solution Center personnel capacity planning and deployment.

  • Working with the SEM/SDM and Customer Executive and Operations Management, long term planning for significant functional changes including business evolutions and application of new regulatory requirements.

  • Working with the Deployment Manager, planning the activities of the Solution Center team

  • Participation in the UIMS team leadership and ensuring clear lines of communication within the UIMS team for all Solution Center activities including clarity on expectations and requirements from other groups.

  • Staff skill set management including recommending training or requesting new staff for specific activities/deliverables.

  • Responsible for maintaining the Solution Center component of the 52-week plan.

  • Responsible for assessing overall efficiency of the Solution Center team and recommending changes to structure or processes to streamline overall Solution Center operations.

  • Responsible for maintaining and updating the Solution Center Plan.

  • Understand the customer requirements for both the installed software and any requested changes to the software configuration.

  • Manage the defect triage process for functional incidents in order to determine the optimal solution to an existing defect.

  • Assess requirements on a reported defect to confirm whether desired behaviour is not per specification vs. a change request.

  • Understand and implement best practices for the creation of custom components and where solutions are better met with configuration.

  • Manage the High-Level Design & Estimate (HLDE) process including gaining sign off on requirements, preparation and development of solution design and estimate and gaining customer approval to proceed.

  • Lead the team of designers / developers to create functional design based on approved HLDEs.

  • Provide guidance/mentorship/leadership to the team of designers / developers in order to create optimal solutions to customer requirements.

  • Confirm estimates to develop and test components both at HLDE and functional design steps.

  • Act as an internal review and approval point for any sufficiently complex design requirement.

  • Maintain the on-going solution design as changes are applied to the software configuration.

  • Serve as an escalation point to Delivery Management regarding scope considerations and deliverables.

  • Serve as main liaison between Solution Center designers, Help Desk, Operations Center and Delivery Management for issues concerning customer implementation.
