Sports Facilities is responsible for the management of all athletic/sports facilities at Montana State University including the 9,300 seat Brick Breeden Fieldhouse, the 17,000 seat Bobcat Stadium, Hoseaus Fitness Center, Shroyer Gymnasium, the Bobcat Tennis Center, and all athletic fields. These facilities are multi-purpose and meet the varied needs of the campus and the community. The department provides services for Athletics, Intramurals and Recreation Sports, and Health and Human Development, as well as hosting many events/concerts that come to campus.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Custodian II is a working custodian who provides lead worker direction to Custodian I’s.
Assesses and organizes workload for a team of custodians
Conducts area inspections and reviews
Assists with training staff as needed
Maintains work equipment and supply inventory
Performs a variety of administrative tasks to support the operation (review of timesheets, inventory, checklists etc)
Verbally addresses performance problems while reporting up any issues to the manager for possible disciplinary actions
Performs custodial duties needed in any of the areas managed by the department
And actively participates as a member of the team while performing other duties in support of the department’s mission.
Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
At least two years experience with commercial and/or industrial custodial workor an equivalent combination of relevant education and related experience.
Experience providing excellent customer service to a variety of individuals.
Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Experience leading, directing and/or training staff.
Experience with special event preparations and/or clean up.

Position Special Requirements/Additional Information

Shift is normally Sunday – Thursday, 9:30pm – 6:00am.
Must be able to substitute for other graveyard/nighttime shifts as the department event schedule changes.
May work evenings, weekends, long hours, consecutive days during busy periods, and occasional holidays as the school and event schedule demands.
May occasionally work outside and in inclement weather assisting with special events.
On call emergency clean-up of HFC, Fieldhouse and the Stadium.
Lifting and moving items such as stacking chairs, folding tables, setting up portable stages, carrying floor sealer, etc. up to 50 lbs and occasionally up to 100 lbs
Moving supplies and equipment up and down stairs; go up and down step ladders; stand for extended periods of time; and grip handles on cleaning equipment.
Bending and/or kneeling while stocking product.
Gripping handles on equipment
Performing repetitive motions such as, but not limited to, sweeping, mopping, dusting, shoveling.
Exposure to cleaning solutions on a daily basis.
