General Statement

Museum of the Rockies at Montana State University seeks a dynamic and creative Digital Marketing Coordinator to join our team. As Digital Marketing Coordinator, you will be crucial in promoting our museum’s exhibits, events, programs, and overall brand to increase visitor engagement and enhance our public image. The ideal candidate will have a passion for the arts, a strong understanding of marketing principles, and the ability to develop and execute effective marketing strategies. This is not a hybrid position.

Duties and Responsibilities

Marketing Strategy and Planning:

  • Aid the Director of Marketing to

  • Develop comprehensive marketing strategies and campaigns aligned with the museum’s goals and objectives.

  • Conduct market research to identify target audiences, market trends, and competitive landscape to inform marketing strategies.

  • Create and implement an annual marketing plan, including budgeting and forecasting.

Digital Marketing and Social Media:

  • Manage the museum’s online presence, including the website, blog, social media, events, programs, and reputation management channels.

  • Create and curate engaging content for social media platforms to increase brand awareness and engage with the museum’s audience.

  • Monitor social media performance, track analytics, and make data-driven recommendations for improving reach and engagement.

Event Promotion and Public Relations:

  • Aid the Director of Marketing in:

  • Developing and executing digital marketing plans to promote special events, exhibitions, lectures, programs, etc. to attract diverse audiences.

  • Assist in coordinating media relations activities, including press releases, media kits, and press conferences, to generate positive media coverage and increase public awareness.

  • Establish and maintain relationships with local media outlets, influencers, and community organizations to facilitate collaborative marketing opportunities.

Performance Analysis and Reporting:

  • Aid the Director of Marketing to:

  • Monitor and analyze marketing campaign performance, including website analytics, social media metrics, online reviews, and visitor feedback.

  • Prepare regular reports on marketing activities, outcomes, and return on investment ( ROI ) for presentation to museum management.

  • Writing and conducting market surveys and visitor evaluations to gather insights and feedback for continuous improvement.

    Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, arts administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

  • Proven experience in marketing, preferably in the museum, arts, or cultural sector.

  • Proficiency in digital marketing, social media management, and content creation.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

    Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong understanding of marketing principles, strategies, and best practices.

  • Creative thinking and ability to develop innovative marketing ideas.

  • Proficiency in using marketing tools and software, such as Google Analytics, social media management platforms, and content management systems.

  • Familiarity with the local arts and culture scene and understanding of the museum industry.

  • Proven analytical and strategic skills, with experience creating strategic fundraising plans, and the detail orientation and follow-through to implement those plans and to achieve or exceed goals.

  • Ability to occasionally work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
