Auxiliary Services Information Technology Division (AuxIT) provides essential technological support for critical systems throughout the Auxiliary Services Enterprise to 5000+ students utilizing the Residential Network (ResNet) services and Auxiliaries’ systems for 10,000+ other campus users and constituents for a variety of things such as access points to buildings with CatCard entry points, purchase of food/beverage on campus, conference attendees, purchase of tickets for athletic games or concerts, and other unique software systems to Auxiliaries.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Director provides oversight to the Auxiliary Services’ information technology division by researching, planning, coordinating, and directing information technology support. Collaborating and coordinating with the MSU IT Community and the office of the CIO, this individual helps establish IT goals for Auxiliary Services and coordinates the work associated with implementation and achievement of the goals through collaboration with administration, staff and the MSU IT Community.
Function as a contributing member of the Auxiliary leadership team by providing technical leadership, goals, initiative and a long-range planning for IT needs and innovation within the department.
Represent Auxiliary Services in technical matters within the IT Community including the Information Exchange sessions.
Develop, coordinate, and maintain the budgeting for equipment acquisitions, upgrades and replacements.
Develop and implement IT policies and procedures (security, disaster recovery, standards, purchasing, and service procedures).
Collaborate and coordinate closely with the MSU CIO and the UIT Community, campus groups and outside vendors and partners.
Oversee Auxiliary IT systems, functions, and personnel, including those in departments (functions include desktop support, servers, database services, programming, remote support, and connectivity).
Provide leadership and supervision to IT staff.
And actively participates as part of the team while performing other duties in support of the department’s mission.
Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or closely related field, plus recent progressive experience in an IT field, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education to effectively perform the required job functions.
Demonstrated supervisory experience which includes coaching, counseling, and evaluating job performance.
Experience analyzing software environments and recommending changes to improve organization efficiency, system reliability, and reduce costs.
Experience working in enterprise IT Environments including: wired and wireless networks, virtual environments, and desktop and client support.
Experience developing and implementing IT policies and procedures.
Demonstrated project management experience.
Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Master’s degree in Computer Science or a closely related field and/or certified in an IT specialty field.
Demonstrated experience and knowledge in working with Apple Products.
Demonstrated experience with network security-related software policies and guidelines.
Demonstrated knowledge of or experience implementing trending IT technologies.
Experience in applying cloud-based technologies.

Position Special Requirements/Additional Information
May be asked to work football games and other special events as needed.
May work outside and occasionally in inclement weather.
