This is a part-time position who’s schedule will be event driven. Part-time employees work up to 16 hours a week, enjoy flexibility in their schedule and are eligible to receive holiday pay and annual & sick leave pay on a prorated basis.

General Statement
The Event Services Division ( ESD ) of Auxiliary Services is comprised of Sports Facilities (http://brickbreeden.com/) , Strand Union Building Administration (http://www.montana.edu/sub/) ( SUB ), Conference and Event Services (https://www.montana.edu/cs/event_services.html) ( CES ), and the Bobcat Ticket Office (http://brickbreeden.com/) . The department’s mission is “Produce exceptional events in outstanding facilities.” These facilities are spread across the MSU campus and the division provides service to a wide variety of clientele and take prides in excellent customer service.
Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Technical Director, the Event Technician provides technical equipment set ups/tear downs for events held in Strand Union Building spaces and Norm Asbjornsen Inspiration Hall. Responsibilities include:
Performs all duties related to set up/tear down and usage of technical equipment for events held within the SUB and Inspiration Hall.
Ensures equipment is functioning properly and reports any maintenance needs to management.
Leads student staff and assists with training of staff.
Serves as primary technical and troubleshooting support during assigned events (lighting, audio visual, computer etc) within the SUB and Inspiration Hall.
Assists with other events across campus both indoor and outdoor, as needed by other departments working with CES , that require technical production set-ups.
Provides video streaming services to clients as requested. Setting up and monitoring video streams of events.
Acts in coordination with teammates on production and operations of events within the facilities and partners with Sports Facilities, UIT , and outside vendors as needed.
Assists with maintaining audio visual, lighting, computer equipment and other miscellaneous related equipment. Reports up maintenance needs.
Assists with maintaining inventory control.
Actively assists with room set-ups and turn-a-rounds for all types of events.
Serves as backup for the Director as needed.
And actively participates as part of the team while performing other duties in support of the department’s mission.

Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Progressively responsible experience supporting end users with audio/visual equipment, computers, presentation software, lighting etc. or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
Customer service experience dealing effectively and diplomatically with a variety of people.
Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Practical experience with sound and specialty lighting for large or high profile events.
Experience problem solving/troubleshooting electronic systems (areas such as lighting, sound, video, digital projectors, stage, computers, etc.).
Practical experience with sound and lighting for events.
