DOWL Field Project Representative 1 in Bozeman, Montana


Responsible for a wide range of construction observation, administrative duties, and documentation during the construction phase of projects.

Due to the field nature of this position, applicants must have the ability to travel away from their home location for extended periods of time to work on field assignments. The position may also require night shift and/or weekend work.

This work would include, but not limited to, contractor pay requests preparation and pay item record keeping. Assist other Construction Engineering and Inspection staff with responding to requests for information, change orders and other field/construction administrative duties as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

Observing and documenting construction activities for compliance with construction contract documents
Thorough and detailed tracking of pay quantities for contractor payment
Assisting in the compilation and preparation of regular contractor pay estimates/requests for contractor payment.
Familiarity or ability to learn to assist other CE&I staff with documentation and reporting. These documents may include, but not limited to:
Requests for information (RFI);
Change orders;
Public meeting agendas and note preparation;
Requests for Proposal (RFP);
Interim Work Authorizations (IWA);
Public Notices;
Submittal tracking
Assist with environmental permitting compliance observations and documentation.
Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

One or more years of similar work experience in the construction or civil engineering field, or
Equivalent combination of work experience and or related college-level course work (in the construction or civil engineering field or equivalent) will substitute year for year from the years of experience requirement.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.

Technical certification requirements below are required within 6 months for the given posting State:

Alaska: CESCL (Certified Erosion and Sediment Control Lead) certified or equivalent
Montana: Certified Concrete Field Testing Technician and Nuclear Gauge Operator Safety Training
Oregon: DOT Quality Assurance Certified Inspector in General Construction, ACP and ADA
Basic First Aid, Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification, or ability to become certified within 3 months for hiring.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as arithmetic and fundamentals of geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, proportions and angular relationships to practical situations.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Sufficient English skills to compose correspondence, develop project documents, proofread documents, and effectively communicate with supervisors, engineers, clients and other applicable staff.
Ability to identify and define problems and communicate to supervisors.
Ability to multi-task and work share to balance workload of field project team.
Ability to work under deadlines.
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook software, Windows Operating System, and printing output devices.
Knowledge of or ability to learn quickly how to interpret and understand engineering drawings.
Knowledge of or ability to learn quickly how to interpret construction survey concepts including:
Centerline and offsets
Plan and Profile views
Quantity summaries
Sheet references

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee is required to talk and hear. Salary Range: $21.01 to $29.42
