Bozeman Health Histotechnologist (Casual Call) in Bozeman, Montana

Position Summary:

Collects and processes surgical specimens. Prepares and embeds specimens with paraffin. Cuts blocks and performs H&E stains with coverslips. Performs immunohistochemical stains as requested and maintains immunostainer & reagents. Prepares solutions and special stains. Processes frozen sections with rapid H&E stains. Enters procedure charge codes. Follows safe practices with infectious and/or hazardous materials. Utilizes equipment, and supplies in the department appropriately.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in science related field; biology or life science

  • Preferred: Certified HIstotechnologist, HTL (ASCP)

Essential Job Functions:

  • Prepares and stains slide for Pathologist review.

  • Prepares tissues for embedding and staining.

  • Performs special & immunohistochemical staining procedures.

  • Prepares reagents and stains according to written procedures.

  • Leads, teaches, inspires, helps and consistently demonstrates hospital system behavioral standards.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to work varied shifts in a busy and stressful environment.

  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.

  • Detail oriented, organizational skills and the ability to prioritize.

  • Standard office equipment and computer applications; MS Office, EMR, internet applications etc.

  • Self-directed, completes assignments accurately, thoroughly and with minimal oversight.
