The Office of Human Resources projects pride and enthusiasm in support of the University’s mission and strategic plan by providing leadership, guidance and administration of classification, recruitment, payroll, benefits and employee/labor relations in a professional and dedicated manner to the Montana State University Bozeman campus, Agricultural Experiment Stations and Extension Service.
Duties and Responsibilities
Human Resources Associates are responsible for a variety of HR services including communications out to campus, specific procedural guidance, troubleshooting which includes analysis, research, exercising appropriate judgment, and resolution.
Coordinate employee recruitment and hiring process including completion of new hire paperwork, workflow management through online recruiting system (Select Suite) to include metrics.
Coordinate compensation administration processes and paperwork, communicating and collaborating with HR colleagues and client departments.
Coordinate the onboarding of new employees to include new hire paperwork through the Orientations
Generate and/or create a variety of reports from the HR systems for HR and client departments use.
Provide payroll processing support answering phone calls, advising constituents of payroll processing deadlines, and other payroll associated duties.
Generating, reviewing, and approving/applying electronic personnel action forms ( EPAF ) for employee changes.
Prepare informational packets.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Progressively responsible administrative work experience with an emphasis on customer service in a main office setting or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
Demonstrated competence effectively interpreting and communicating detailed information, procedures, and directions clearly and accurately, in person, by telephone, and through business correspondence to a wide variety of individuals both internal and external to the organization.
Demonstrated competence organizing and prioritizing multiple work assignments, meeting deadlines, and exercising adaptability to changing priorities while maintaining a positive, effective, and professional attitude.
Demonstrated experience designing, writing, editing and formatting professional documents such as reports, business correspondence, spreadsheets, and brochures.
Demonstrated competence using personal computers and various software such as word processing, spreadsheets, database, presentation, email and internet. Microsoft Office software preferred.
Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Human resources experience in one or more areas, certification or Bachelor’s degree in human resources (or related field) or equivalent education and experience .
Experience in one or more of the following specialist areas : compensation, recruitment, benefits, or payroll
Demonstrated experience delivering training and presenting to small and large groups.
Demonstrated experience gathering and compiling information to analyze and evaluate complex matters .
Experience with human resources policies and procedures
Experience using multi-relational databases

Analyze issues within the broader human resources context to identify shortcomings within a process providing integrated solutions to improve the quality of the process
Have the desire to increase knowledge, acquire new skills and take on new projects and challenges.
Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in interpreting and applying state and federal statutes, University and departmental policies and procedures.
Represent the Office of Human Resources in a professional manner, appearance and a positive attitude to constituents across campus.
